Figured i would make a suggestions thread for this to keep it in one place, ideas are to make it more balanced for existing players to attempt to buy new adv eq and upgrade it without having to remake players:
1/ New special items should be 100% refundable:
I dont think anyones done the math on this.. to fully grade all 4 items of eq at level 32 will cost 160 tokens or 400 days of training! so 10 seasons! by which point youll be level 60 ish and eq still wont be as good as basic level 60 eq..
So scrap that lets do 1 item.. takes 100 days to get to same upgrade point as current item, but by that point you would be about level 43 so well into then next upgrade point where the basic eq is pretty similar effectiveness.. so another 25 days to get it over the brink. This does NOT include normal training time to get the base item.
Or the fact that items you could then purchase would be 2x better!.. but due to being unable to carry over more than 10 bonus points you stuck with your lvl 32 base item..
Having the ability to refund all bonus tokens will mean a level 1 can upgrade new eq at lvl 8/16 etc without being stuck with a pretty poor item. Or wasting about 400 days of their life
2/ Bonus tokens should be backdated for current players based on creation date (extra for boosted players)
Well as i figure it you cross an upgrade lvl (or gain 8 levels) about every 3 seasons give or take.. NO boosting (see note at bottom on that)
So to upgrade all 4 items of new eq over 120 days means you need 40 tokens .. so 1 token every 3 days.. currently can get 1 every 2.5.. which seems about right
Refunding 100% of tokens will help, but i suggest you grant bonus tokens to current vets, based on the above... 1 token for every 3 season days of creation.. thus a level 22 created about season 1 day 20 would get 33 tokens.. thus 3 eq upgrades.
Boosting players shouldnt penalised, at the least they should be awarded. Every time you boost you gain extra bonus tokens. Worked out as about 15 days = 1 boost (which is approx time takes a level 30 to gain 1 level), so 3 tokens per boost. So a player created on season 1 day 20, who has boosted 3x each season for last 3 seasons will gain 60 bonus tokens.. but will be about level 32 now so would need more tokens.
^^Numbers ive quoted are roughly based on the idea of having a full set of fully upgraded eq by about 9-10th season of play (if you 95% train intense.. boosters would have a harder time tho so may never achieve fully upgraded set until about 13th season ish
3/ Add an EQ marketplace for selling off old eq when upgrading
As a replacement to item 1/.. instead of getting back 100% of bonus tokens you could add a new page to the Marketplace were players can sell off old eq, max price would be orginal cost in both cash and bonus tokens.. but players can lower this to get faster sale or if they bought the wrong item etc.
ie. My DT makes a +2 STR, 2% Tackling item.. upgrades it 2x at 20 bonus tokens cost adding +2 Agility (say this all costs about 200k).. could then try and resell it for 18 tokens and 100k.. as Bort says eq already has level limits so could only sell it to players of certain levels.. and could be bought by a DE or LB or whatever
