Trying to do it is a pretty shady owner, getting stuck with a trade for 2 in actives is laziness and not doing due diligence. It is the owners responsibility to ensure this doesn't happen to their team. But trying to pawn off in actives is unethical and slimy.

Very true. But you have to ask are they long term inactives or just off season inactives? It is your responsibility to check prior to the trade, but the duration of inactivity also bears a look at.

You should never trade for people you haven't talked to. If they don't want to be on your team you will have a massive headache (regardless of inactive or active).
