With season five about to get underway, Alpha Conference owners held a preseason meeting hosted by Cambodian owner jmarter. The following is a partial transcript of the meeting:
Jmarter: Welcome to beautiful Batdamdang, and yes, those are mountains you see out the window. Anyways, how about a hand to the new owners: Quality357 with the Hooligans, ink43 with the Dogs, kcfdx with the Psychonauts, and Doubleman with the Pits. What’s your guy’s thoughts on landing in SE Asia #1?
ink43: Thanks guys, glad to be here. I heard the Dogs gave some of you guys fits last year, hopefully that will continue.
ppking: Yeah, after losing to them 3-0 two seasons ago, we got it done 12-9 in OT this past season.
Jmarter: Yeah , we were one of those teams that took a loss to the Dogs hard. How about you guys moving up or down to here?
kcfdx: Speaking for a couple of the others, we may not have the levels to compete on paper, but we will compete. Don’t expect any of us to be leaving anytime soon unless it’s with a conference championship.
Jmarter: Ok, I will write that one down. Any bets on if Pingree, Tibet, or AFEF are around in a season?
syrk08: They're gone.
cler1c: Gone.
Forward_Lateral: Oh, soooo gone.
Jmarter: Come on guys, let them get in the door before you kick them in the rear. Anyways, anybody make any big moves this offseason? I can say the Mountain Men did. We went out aggressively to upgrade the team at several positions. New starters coming in at QB, HB, WR, and on theD-line. Also added to the O-line. How about the rest of you?
Snoopaloop: We were able to come up with a CB that we needed desperately as well as another DE to fill in for Adren Aline.
kcfdx: So far I have only been able to add two OTs. But at the very least I will be adding a QB. Just taking my time to find the right guy.
big_poppa2x: You guys may want to write down these names: sir blocks a-lot, LaMar Arrington, and Chet LaLone. Look em up.
sarge: FB Crusher Kowalski was the starting fullback on back to back pro league championship teams, C Bubba Casian, DT Jolly Boy69, CB Jordan Evans Jr., CB Courtney Grixby, and P Jack Bil should all make key contributions.
fool: We significantly upgraded our WR core, adding former Xplosivo WR's DeAndre Cash and Tyfoi Phevah to the fold. We expect big things from our air force in the season ahead.
Forward_Lateral: Our entire starting lineup is returning. Oh, I forgot. Lost our punter, but hell no more than we plan on punting, I can do that.
cler1c: D.R. Moreland. Say no more.
jmarter: Ok, what about returning guys. Who had the rest of the league better be on the look out for this season?
Forward_Lateral: All of them. Mark my words, time for the Addiction to be promoted.
syrk08: Magnum Airwalker and Joo Got No Skillz may have something to say about that.
ppking: Hey Lateral, Joseph Dredd and Big Stick and the rest of us ain’t going away.
cler1c: Do the names Shun, Takeru, and Taka ring a bell with anyone?
fool: The entire team but two of our WR's (Speedy and Gwumphanator) have returned. Our team leaders: HB Yuri the Axe and C Broak Foodpile on offense, CB Born Jason on defense, and CB Stim Violentlee on special teams will make sure we show up.
sarge: SS Whisker Biscuit led the conference in tackles in Season 4. WR Aye Gorm led the conference in receiving yards. HB Canton Katchum led the team in rushing, all purpose yards, and touchdowns. DT Malique Navidad and LB Turnip Trader will anchor the defensive front. CB Shawn Suchy is a great all around defensive back. Scare anyone?
big_poppa2x: lendale Jamison is our returning star.
kcfdx: All my guys are stars. I ought to know, I built them.
Snoopaloop: Daddy Ilz at LDE is a beast as well as Brent Smith Jr. at SS.
Jmarter: Well we have a few Mountain Men to fear. An O-line returning in tact (lead by OT Mojo Taterhead), strong LB core (lead by Ray Stack), and FS Savage Storm. Let’s talk about any highlights from last season. I’ll start with the team formerly known as the Rickrollers. Formerly because the day after we won that game, they became the Pontianak Firebirds as the owner was so devasted by the loss. We got a 40 yard field goal with three minutes to go to take the lead. Huevos Rancheros’ interception with just over 2 minutes to go clinched the victory. I’ve heard rumors that a few of the holdover Firebird players have put a bug in the ear of the new owner. Guess they didn’t appreciate our celebration. Something about they didn’t appreciate us and that conch shell thing.
sarge: Yeah, I heard about that. We have circled that rematch on our calendar. We have a little conch shell thing waiting for you. For us though, the highlight was a 23-17 win over Hagåtña Dogs in Week 15.
Snoopaloop: To be honest, cant really remember. Just know that we are a 2nd half team as we pile up losses in the first half of the season, and end it with a win streak to get into the playoffs.
kcfdx: Biggest regular season win was against The Subic Bay Admirals, who I also beat in the Alpha Conference Championship.
Forward_Lateral: Who the hell is that?
kcfdx: SEA A#1
Forward_Lateral: Oh.
big_poppa2x: I just still can’t get over that lost to Sumatra in the 2nd rnd of the playoffs. Haven’t quit drinking since then.
fool: Bay Area Riders, it was the first of many wins against teams that were much better than us the season before.
Forward_Lateral: Both playoff wins. But oh yeah, those don’t matter since we are still in AA.
cler1c: Ours was against the Pontianak Firebirds. A little welcome to the league.
syrk08: Playoffs Against Garaudas.
