Welcome all to the new season of Goal Line Blitz. This is a pre-season prediction and analysis thread of the top teams in Zeta Conference of Western Europe AA#2. The Division is really hotting up with the top teams being upgraded significantly so, and the promoted teams likely to challenge as well. The departure of drunkenmonkee and narcissus1, whilst sad for the forum community, came as a relief to the teams seeking promotion. Unfortunately that relief was short lived with the Cheetahs being promoted. They appear to be a very similar team. Can Dover, Lyon or the revamped Venice side mount a serious challenge against the upcoming teams or will the two agent dream team run away with it again? And what’s to be said about the new Permian Panthers? Could the fallen giants rise again in more spectacular fashion? I don’t know the answer to this question, but we could take a pretty good guess.
The following, in descending order (my pick for title is last), are the teams who can mount a serious challenge for the Zeta Conference title:

Team: Hamburg Firestorm.
Last Season: 13-3. The Firestorm were always considered strong threats but what must be considered a remarkable win over Dover really brought to light the challenge this team brought. Missing out on the seeded spots by a place, the Firestorm were unable to defeat the Demons in a playoff series throwing very little unexpectedness.
Big signings for the season (management comment):The management deceided to bing in a new starting QB as the last one never particpated in any team meeting.
The new one (Frett Bavre) is a well build Level 29 QB who can't wait to lead our Offense to Victory.
This should help us bringing our Offense from the one dimensional running game into a "Run in your face and throw it behind you" type of Offense.
Gameplans for DC will now be harder.
We still struggle a bit one the WR position as we are down to 3 WR but we keep searching for additions and should bring in new talents shortly.

Another big plus is a new Kicker.
Our last year Kicking game was a bit below average but with the new award winning Kicker Scandal Silverdust should this be history for our placekicks.

Other additions is more deepth and quality on the OTackle position and a new backup TE.
Aspirations for season (management comment):Our Season goal is to finish 3th during regular season and to make at least the Semi Final for the playoffs.
We will continue to adjust our gameplan from week to week in order to make it really hard for anybody to do any predictions what we are going to run or how we are going to defend.

(Firestorm have read but not responded to my message)

Whilst the Firestorm remain a worthy contender for the conference, I’m not sure whether they’ll be able to hold onto the 5th position they received last season.

My Prediction: Playoff Position

Team: Hungary Hungry Hippos
Last Season: Promoted. Finish in 7th position but a big boost bonus and some excellent tactically planning led them to playoff success in the A Division.
Big signings for the season (management comment): Evident in the roster.
Aspirations for season (management comment): As always the Hippos will pursue a championship.

This team is definitely hard to call. Whilst they did only finish 7th last season, they pose a threat with their playoff push. It may be a matter of whether they can reach the playoffs this season if they decide to wait it out for boosting. Regardless, I think the new Hippos will definitely ruffle some feathers.
My Prediction: Top 6.

Team: Permian Panthers
Last Season: 5-11. A team in turmoil led to the once feared Panthers becoming a considerably weaker side.

(The Panthers have not responded to me, despite reading my message.)

The Panthers have had a massive revamp of their squad with many Pro players joining. Whilst these guys didn’t perform well at the top, the squad looks capable of causing serious damage in the Zeta Conference of WEAA2
My Prediction: Top 6

Team: NFLUK Dover Vikings.
Last Season: 13-3.With two Zeta losses and a tough Alpha tie, the Vikings were always in contention during the playoffs. With convincing offensive displays against the Lightning and the Romantics, Dover made it to the Conference Final with one thing on their mind. Given any other AA league, they may have won, but this season belonged to the Hippos (now Dynasty)
Big signings for the season (management comment): New signings are still be negotiated
Aspirations for season (management comment): Aspirations are to beat the Demons (Again) and finally win a conference championship game
What’s new in Season 5 for them (management comment): I could tell you but then i would have to kill you!! oh alright then...we will have much better game planning & the Offensive & Defensive AI's will be totally re-done to make the most of our strengths & opponents weaknesses, the Vikings will be a different team in Season 5!

With the Dover Vikings posing an unsurpassable (for the Demons atleast) threat each season, I doubt this season will be any different. The Dover Vikings are contenders every season and whilst the transfer scene appears all hush hush, I believe they’ll bring in the guys to keep them near the top. I’m just not sure how they (as well as every other team) will deal with the new threats emerging in the Zeta conference.
My Prediction: Top 4.

Team: Lyon Demons.
Last Season: 13-3. Despite a disappointing loss to Manchester, the Demons became title contenders during the season with strong wins against the Firestorm and the Battle of Lyon, a win against the Hippos. With a seeded playoff spot and never losing by more than 7 points to any team this season, Lyon looked a good shot for the conference. However, a newly boosted Hippos side demolished them in the semis on their path to glory.
Big signings for the season (management comment): Andrew TheGunner, a level 29 WR, comes in to fill the void left by the departing Fifty Cal (who we thank for his time). Other star signings include LB Torres, Sunny Bill the DT and QB McToad who looks to bolster the passing game.
Aspirations for season (management comment): We are definitely looking to replicate last season’s success and I believe anything less than our record in Season 4 would be looked upon with discontent.
What’s new in Season 5 for them (management comment): With a fair few signings, and a few more to come, I think depth issues will become less prominent.
Any additional comments: We look forward to revenge over the duo from Rotterdam.
The Demons are consistent performers and with a few new signings look to continue their strong performance in WE AA#2
My Prediction: Top 4

Team: Rotterdam Cheetahs.
Last Season: Promoted from A3. One loss early on, presumably before the boosting. From what I understand, it was Venice who defeated this team last season, stopping promotion. This team dominated last season, and like the Hippos, are likely to be successful in this league.
Big signings for the season (management comment): Everybody is coming back was the most important signings. Additionaly, we traded our 5th WR plus cash for a true #1 WR (drizzle my schnizzle)- so our WR corp got that much stronger.
Aspirations for season (management comment): we want to win the league title and move up.
What’s new in Season 5 for them (management comment): nothing really, just another season wiser.

We all know the damage these two agents can do. We know the squad is built well. We know these guys are a tough team to beat. They may be new to the league, but from what I can see, we have our new Hippos here.
My Prediction: Top 2

Team: Venice Romantic Rockstars
Last Season: 14-2. The newly promoted side came to AA#2 with a roster boasting some of the world’s most influential women. The team fell victim to the Hippos and a close game against Dover went against them. They did however defeat the Lyon Demons. Passing the competitive Husavik Whalers in the playoffs, Dover continued their dominance over the girls from Venice, and they lost in the semis.
Big signings for the season (management comment): Quite a few as my boyfriend and I merged teams and retired some players to cut costs. His players were a bit higher leveled than mine at 27 so it's definitely a big boost. Being the woman in the house, he had to bring his players to my team. It was either that or he slept on the couch.
Aspirations for season (management comment): We'd like to win the title but saw that Permian basically brought a Pro level team to their roster so it looks like we'll have to wait a season, but it doesn't mean we can't try and pull off the upset.
What’s new in Season 5 for them (management comment): Split responsibility will help. He's going to do the DC, I'm going to do the OC, so I'm sure we'll end up winning because of our brilliant offense.
Any additional comments?: *kiss kiss*
The merger of Dreamgirl’s and Cloudwalker’s best brings evident the two-agent threat that Zeta knows all too well. With incredible depth at all positions, this season will definitely be available to Venice. I guess it may come down to how well the offense performs under the highly charismatic Dreamgirl.
My Prediction: Top 2. My pick for the title.

I think it’s fairly obvious why I predict this conference will be extremely tight. There appears 7 teams which could all possibly make a push for that title, and with only one winner, it truly looks set to be a magnificent campaign. And whilst the 7 teams mentioned above are my pick for top positions, who knows which other sides could come into the fray. Manchester is always a strong side and I’m sure they’ll get a win or two over the sides mentioned above. And with the Arlanda Cheetahs rebuilding, who knows what they’ll throw up? Anyway, I look forward to 40 days of intense GLB here in the WE AA#2 Zeta, and whilst we all may differ in team, tactics, beliefs and values, we all hold one true underlying message. That is of course, that Zeta is greater than Alpha.

Best of luck to all teams,
from the crew down at Lyon.

Aye, it gets worse when you move up to AAA. I think there's a few teams in AA who could hold their own safely in AAA, but getting one of 2 promotion places is tough.
