It's a gimmick. The sad thing is.... I'm guessing he puts up this front of being utterly stupid to mask the fact that he's moderately stupid.

It's actually really genius in a "survival of the fittest" kind of way.... like an internet chameleon hiding from predators by blending into his surroundings.... in this case, taking who he is and extrapolating it to the ridiculous extreme.
