Is there a formation guide somewhere?

For example, when I scout an opponent and see that they run a lot of one formation, etc, how do I find out what that formation is called?

Like this offensive formation: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=193409&pbp_id=2436386

Is that still the only play in that formation?

In the Defensive AI when you click on coverage distance (short, Med, Long) what does it do and who does it affect??

Goggiie you are in a Goaline Defense and not a 4-3 in this situation change that and you should be good in the defensive AI

That is a strong I. The FB lines up on the TE side of formation it is Strong I. If FB goes the otherside it is weak I and if he lines up behind the QB then it is just I formation

When adding inputs for specific formations what do I pick if I want to do outputs for the I formation? Not weak or strong I just straight I 1TE and 2WR? I don't see that option, and if I just pick any I then it will override anything I put for strong or weak I.

Thats easy.

Remember guys that all the AI's start at the top of the list and work down till it gets a hit. And then picks a random output from what you have listed.
(don't forget it actually goes down the list for the Qtr specific first, if it finds nothing there, then it goes down your main list.)

So for picking up the normal I do this:

Input: Weak I
Input: Strong I
Input: Any I

So the Weak and strong will catch early on. Then go to your Def AI tester and try some different scenarios and make sure it catches how you want it to.

In the strong I linked above, I have also seen the HB break to the outside a lot and pick up 7-8 yards on avg. And killed us in the last game. I run a 3-4 defense and was in a basic setup strong side shift cover 2, look for the run. If he ran it up the middle it was fine. If he broke it outside, he knocked out 7-10 yards, over and over.
Does anyone have any suggestions to help stop this?

I've got something new put in already. But was wondering if anyone has had any real luck stopping this play.

Thanks.

Thanks, that is what I was thinking I would have to do and started testing that last night. I saw somewhere someone mentioned a 3-4 strong shift cover 1 man run focus, blitz LOLB & LILB to help against that strong I run.

I believe Bort (at one point earlier on, could have been last season) said that the coverage distance simply related to how far back the coverage (aka the safeties) sat.

If you have a couple of scrimmage games, or games you will win or lose, try altering it from medium (for game 1) to Long (for game 2) on 3rd and Long plays (with 3+ WRs). You should be able to discern the differences if you don't change anything apart from the coverage distance between the 2 games by simply seeing how far back the safeties play initially.

I need some advice on what types of LB's do better at each spot. I like to think I have some good LB's, and I recruited thinking we would play more 3-4. We have switched back to a 4-3 and I want my LB's in the best position to succeed.

Let me know what you need...I have provided a link to my roster.

LOLB will be your best coverage LB, somebody with decent speed and pretty high agility. ROLB will be free to blitz more often than the other two linebackers, good speed and strength with decent agility are good here. MLB doesn't need as much speed necessarily but it never hurts to have a lot of speed, as long as it's not too far beyond what your agility can handle.
