Just reveiwing my last game and noticed that me starting FB was consistantly being added as a 3rd TE when we are on opps 5 yards or closer.

1. why is this happening?

2. how can I stop this?

You only have 2 TEs, and the goal line formation uses 3.

Set your backup FB as #3 TE if you want (he might get in on some 'normal' plays though, so hope he can catch), or recruit another TE.

Right....any suggestions on how to stop him from getting snaps as a TE receiver..because his catching sucks

What I do to keep my fullback in the backfield on goal-line situations is put in a backup offensive tackle in the TE No. 3 spot. i guess if he goes out for a pass it's a tackle eligible.

He won't get any snaps as a receiving TE if he's not on the TE depth chart, as the sets only use 2 TEs if not in goalline formation. I don't think he'll get too many passes as the third TE in goalline sets anywho, but I assume you want him pounding the ball into the endzone. Outside of putting someone else in your depth chart as the 3rd tight end you're probably out of luck though

We have our back-up FB listed as our third TE. That solves the goalline issue but he does get 1 or 2 passes thrown his way throughout the game. It would work better if our starting TE had higher stamina or if our back-up TE didn't play both ways on ST.
