Satchmo, I could use your advice.

He isn't around anymore mate.

I would blitz CB's against them though.

Thanks, nice to see a fellow Reaper on the forums.

Play Focus

You should always have every player set their own tactics to meet the scheme and the opponent. For this reason, you should avoid overriding these settings too often in the AI.

http://www.glbwiki.com/index.php?title=Developing_a_Successful_Defensive_AI

# Play Focus - Some players in the GLB community will tell you that Play Focus overrides the Individual Tactics. This is completely incorrect. Play Focus merely controls the distance the LB corps plays away from the defensive line.

* Run Focus (stack the box more)
* Pass Focus (stack the box less)
* Balanced

bort stickied this but this is in wiki...whichone is correct?

Exactly...the AI stuff doesn't override individual tactics.

Individual tactics merely control a vision bonus for that player - is their first "thought" at the snap run, pass, or neither.

Whereas, the pass/run/balanced selector in the AI output controls dictates where the LBs line up - are they cramming up the box or are they spread out a bit?

And, just because you want to defend against the run with a particular output doesn't mean you want to choose "run" for that output. It depends.

didn't read to see if this was covered, srry, lazy...some of my 5wide covers have the CB who is supposed to be with the tripes right cover..over on the weak side to start..its probably me with an AI thing, but I looked and I run the same set for that play..some worked, some didn't...about 50% were a CB set weak..any thoughts..thanks

The play is really short so it's hard for me to tell for sure but it really looks like your playing zone. Now add add cover 2 and it looks like the sim has you in a 3-2-6 with your 5th CB acting as a LB (I don't get enough of a look at your presnap formation to see if your MLB is shifted weakside because your AI calls for a LB shift) because your MLB is blitzing the 1 gap. So because the MLB blitzes (you probably only call for 1 blitzer) and your playing zone in a cover 2 out of what is usually used as a quarters coverage (cover 4), your CB is forced to then take that blitzing MLB spot to cover his responsability. I saw this happen before and I was able to fix it. But man or zone it always left that WR uncovered when in a cover 2 and if they ran deep the safety would move in on the open guy.

I'd try taking out the Cover 2 Zone wherever you're using your quarters D. also check the input to make sure your covering 5/5 WR's

I'm having troubles setting the AI to play the variations of the I-Formation differently...ie..one set of calls for Weak-I, Strong-I, and Straight-I......my settings for 'any-I'( as i understand to mean "Straigh-I" ) always override my Weak-I and Strong-I settings???......is there any need to set vs Big-I or I-3 Wide???

thanks in advance,
g

The order of your inputs matters especially when it comes to scripting for specific I formations. It goes from top down so if the situation doesn't match the first input it checks second, if second doesn't match then third, and so on until it finds a match.

I any variation should be below the Weak I and Strong I otherwise the any variation will trigger for weak and strong as well.

I'm going to post this in a couple areas, so if you provided a response to an already thread on this, don't worry about replying as I will check all areas. Thanks in advance.

I have a pertty decent MLB on one of our teams (L60 - STR 79, SPD 110, AGI 70's) and he'd like to Blitz the QB from time to time, but we haven't had the best luck even against what seems to be lower teams.

Any suggestion (link/snapshot) etc of where the MLB should be and Blitz from for the best result?

Thanks,
