Satch and all,

So we got a box callout (pass, run, neutral) and that affects the location for lineup - what does the coverage distance box do then? Is that basically the "how far they are back to backpedal box" or something? What function does this thing have?

Rexx

yeah, would love to get an answer on this.

thinking about it, it might be how far back the zone is.

Hey Satchmo-n-Dizzy nice guide! There are some things I dont agree with but for the most part its solid!

I have been having a lot of success with the new AI, but one thing I have had trouble with is applying good pressure on the QB.

I run a 4-3 and constantly blitz at least one LB (and the occasional Saftey) but rarley ever do they break through the line and hurry the passer.

Would you say this is something to do with their builds or might there be something I could adjust with my AI?

In this realm of reality blitzing a defensive back does depend on scheme, down and distance, but moreover in this game you need pressure from up front (linemen with strength/agility) when you stack the box and a DB with speed to get to the QB. The information given in the majority of the blogs is correct and we are simply trying to translate defensive theory and preference from real football to virtual and there are going to be things that are very effective in the real world and less effective in the beta world. The key is to understand your indiviual player builds with thier strengths and weaknesses and your opponent's strengths and weaknesses. Combine what you know about this game with what we know about real football, have fun and try to have more sucesses that failures. Even in the real world the best planned strategy/game tatics does'nt always equal a win.

This is a problem everyone is experiencing in season 4.

You haven't won a game yet either.

i think your right for the most part, however i've noticed that short distance in man2man the LBs line up much closer to the line.

Ok, sorry for bumping this thread, but quick question. About how many plays should you really have set? How much is too much? How much is too little?

EDIT: Guess I didn't read the part where this got stickied lol

Great guide and great advice everyone. This is a great guide for newer owners as well just starting out trying to learn as we go. Its awesome that people take the time to make these guides and others the time to respond and improve them to help each other out. Keep up the great work.

In most cases the biggest advantage gained is in the confusion created, that is lost if the same player blitzes every time.

It that also true in GLB world ? I am not talking about AI adjustments but are the players on the field learns from play to play ?

It does seem like if you blitz the same guys on the same play over and over, it's less likely to work, unless its a huge mismatch you're exploiting.

Satchmo -

Thank you for this post. I'm trying to wrap my head around the D-AI and this has shed some light on it for me.

Satchmo, I could use your advice.

There is a team in BBB#3 Eastern Europe, the Regulators, that are running two QB's built to scramble only. Their rushing stats are amazing! Here is the only game where someone has came close to beating them http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=340401&mode=pbp

I am a DC and we play these guys in about six games. I am trying to develop a defense that will slow and contain the "wildcat" offense. Would you suggest playing a Cover 0 the entire game with everyone set to run, or do you have some other ideas? They are no real threat to throw the ball what so ever, looking at their games.

He isn't around anymore mate.

I would blitz CB's against them though.
