Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

On Sunday, July 27, 2008, the city of Gijón came to an agreement with JRoy15, owner of the Mariners to let the team our of their contract with the city. With this completed, the team formally announces the team's move to Rio de Janeiro. The team, now called the Speedwagons will continue to compete in South America AAA2 in the upcoming Season 4.
"I'm blessed and thankful for the support and opportunities that the city of Gijón has given to this team. But, considering the league we play in, it's time for the team to move into an area that would properly represent South America. I hope the people of Rio will support the Speedwagons, as the people of Gijón supported the Mariners even through the dark times of the Franchise," said Jonathon Roy, owner of the Speedwagons.
César Maia, the Mayor of Rio de Janeiro expressed happiness at the addition of a competitive team in his city. "This is a bright day for the Cariocas and South America AAA, for bringing one of it's own where they belong," cheered Maia.
The pep rally and press conference, attended by 15,000 cheering fans, took place at the new home of the Speedwagons, Estádio do Maracanã, which is the 13th largest stadium in the world and the home of Flamengo and Fluminense, two teams in Campeonato Brasileiro Série A. The three teams have come to a working agreement to share the field in all forms, practice and game time. Reports of the agreement stated the ability for no games to be postponed because of scheduling, with the Speedwagon's games taking place at Midnight local time.
