I have a dot that I can't figure out why he isn't/wasn't productive. I have a next gen dot coming up but don't want to make the same mistakes, especially when I'm not sure where I went wrong lol. The guy doesn't get many blitzing opportunities anymore but even when he was his hurry/pressure rate was disappointing. Please help

The "engage block" roll comes up at the start of the blocking interaction, as the two players lock horns. All the blocking related attributes apply as expected, but there's more of an emphasis on strength or agility (depending on the interaction) to see if there's an instant win for one side or the other. Pancake related skills can also apply here, as there can be an instant pancake. Also balance skill for the losing party if he is pancaked.

As a quick follow up, would % hold block or break block aeq (or technique man) affect this interaction? And is it reset following a successful Strong Arm shove back by a blocker?

Hold block doesn't apply; that only applies on the next tick after the blocker gets his hands on the guy. Break block does apply, however. Strong Arm does not disengage the block unless the defender is pushed too far away, in which case it would reset.

So what you're saying is HB% doesn't help an offensive dot engage a block (tick 1), but it does help the dot after tick 1 to hold the block?

Yep

You're using Head of Steam but have nothing to support it.

You either need to be stupidly fast and just hope for RNG or build a legit pass rushing dot with all the SAs, VAs, and BB% gear. You have to get the instant win if you're not fast enough to not get touched.

I'm also 99% certain there's a Bort quote saying that Closing Speed can't fire on pass plays until the ball is caught. But, I'm on my phone ATM so searching is a pain in the ass
Edit;:Found one

In my experience, higher agility (100), and vision (74), along with a BB%.
Power Tackler not a big deal at all, but Technique Man is. Also, why FF%, how about MT% instead?

Additionally, a DC that will use him...that is literally 1A in terms of importance in relation to a quality build.

Honestly he is an adequate CL dot, not elite, but he is certainly good enough to compete. I would suspect the coordinator was not experienced exploiting a Blitz CB

Blz CB is like the PR NT .. Built and used properly their weaknesses can be hidden and they excel. The more specialist you want the more planning build is required. I think the major and common flaw is they are built to do too much such as cover HB runs or screens as well as pass rush. And also his d/c slot... IMO cb5 but some use 2 or 4 for pass blz speed 105 natural and agile 95 min . Also remember that pressure causing a bad throw is a huge plus as well
