It was the transition from beta. Bort gave a free player to all the agents that wasted all those seasons with constant sim changes that made dots go obsolete from 1 season to the next

I believe if you have a beta trophy you have 4 free players

Your very last one is the Beta trophy

On the Home page, right up where you can see your Flex Points and Reward Points, if you have any unused free player slots, it shows you how many are left. I currently have 2 free players, which leaves me with 2 available free players.

If I recall correctly, if you're using all of your free slots, it doesn't say you have 0... it just doesn't show anything there at all.
