The problem with 8 playoff teams is there is no incentive for top teams to truly TRY during the regular season, since they get no benefit of being a #1 or #2 seed. It also makes it less competitive to fight for the final playoff spots, since often where will be 1-2 "bad" teams per conference, giving a 4/4 chance or a 4/5 chance to make the playoffs...

People LOVE the competitiveness of the NFL playoffs, where only 7/16 (44%) of teams make the playoffs, but in GLB we have 8/12 (67%) of teams making the playoffs.

To make a change would help the competitiveness of the regular season.


Edit to add, I agree with RC's discord suggestion:
6 playoff teams
Top2/6 get bye week.
2 teams (#4 each conference) don't demote.
4 teams demote.

This let's teams fight for a lot more (top2 seed for bye week, top6 to make playoffs, top8 to not demote) and would lead to a much more engaging regular season in all leagues...

I like the 8/12 in WL because every game is tough

I doubt National Pro will be competitive for WL calibur teams

If you're a WL quality playoff team, don't demote?

You're making the false assumption there are exactly 8 WL quality teams that belong to stay there, but that's only because that's what we hade historically.

For arguments sake, let's pretend there are 18 WL quality teams in GLB at any one time.

Previous system:
8 stay in WL, 4 promote to WL, 4 demote to Pro, 2 stay in Pro

New proposed system:
6 stay in WL, 6 promote to WL, 6 demote to Pro.

These 3 teams will combine to win the next 6 WL championships, but get upset in s111...

There are tons of good teams now and I doubt any squad can cruise control to a top 2 seed without scouting/tagging. RNG is huge and eliminating 1 bad sim rewards regular season effort.

Yup, would be a legit reward for teams that dominate the regular season, as well as give more importance and incentive to everyone's regular season efforts!

I would be a fan of this if everyone only owned one team. Right now it would literally just be removing agents from the fun. I hate these topics because it just makes me sound like a whiney bitch.

In other words, removing a sim against a non RC26/Hood/Mauler team, which shouldn't scare anyone, right? Everyone else is super inferior, why even bother wasting the energy to lift your noses! In other words, rewarding the networks who are going to make up 90% of Pro + moving forward. How is this not obvious? I expected more from you, you know better than this! You just went to war with Mauler Group before the apocalypse because they were able to manipulate the playoff system in WL with an 8 team format. What makes you think they won't do it when there are only 6 spots to go around? I'll say this in my nicest Michael Irvin voice.. "C'MON MAN!" Since I love you, I'm gonna give you the chance to pick which agents you think deserve a spot in the playoff equation every season, with this change we would have room for 2. The rest don't even deserve a chance to upset someone in Round 1.

Pick 4: zzman, Kenshitzen, ewinter, pooperdog, playmakers, GroupOh, Gambler, Smitty, ME?!?, probably missing a handful of other quality owners that help make up the second tier of teams that are keeping this game alive for now.

Edit - I'll let you pick 4 because there are only 4 teams demoting from WL into 2 leagues, so my math was off.
