If I only want the kicker to attempt less then 50 would I set the number to 66?

If you want attempts from the 50 yard line and in, you would set it to 67.
If you only want 50 yard ATTEMPTS or shorter, you set it to 50. (33 yard line + 7 spot + 10 endzone)
Max FG range setting is how long of an attempt, not the spot on the field.
