Most the time the first round match ups are set or at least a good idea of who you could potentially face, no need for 4 day gap to gameplan. Would make more sense, if schedules remain same, to put that break in between the conference championship and the championship game, similar to the Super Bowl, to allow more time to prepare for the two championship teams.

I believe the gap is currently the way it is for the tournament finals but not sure it would be a real detriment to the tournament finalists if it was moved

I like how it is. I have the time to decide and award team MVP, update team record book and that stuff. We need some time after regular season to rest before the playoffs.

Is there a strenuous regular season below World League that I'm not aware of? And is a rd1 game more important than a championship? Especially below WL where most 1 vs 4s are blowouts?

I would just get rid of the bye week and make the season 2 days shorter, especially if we are trying to speed up the build process.

To summarize:
Eliminate the 2 day lag headed to the playoffs (Day 33/34 in the current schematic, now would be relevant) and reduce Season total to 38 days; All the while adding the 2 extra training days credits (4 Training Points) at Day 33, thus keeping the slight boost to lower level playoffs, while eliminating the two doldrum days now know as 33 and 34.

Why not both? I mean, we're already removing most of the 'off season' days so we're reducing the total number of days in a season. I would think adding just one back wouldn't be difficult or a world ender. So keep the extra day after the season (before playoff game #1) and just give us an extra day between Conference Championship and League Championship (AKA, Superbowl).

I actually like this idea even better than OP's. (sorry Ryan). I do agree with Ken that having that day off after regular season is worth keeping (my reasons are different than his but... I digress). But I sure would like that day in between the two Championship games too.
