Warrior General Games

Greetings. I'll probably be asking a lot of questions, so I decided to make one master topic instead of creating new ones each time.

Question 1: Is it possible to watch a previous match from start to finish? I see past games but I have to click the display option for each event individually, which is not intuitive.

Q2: Has something happened to the game or the website? Half of the links inside the game aren't working. They are either directed to a site that doesn't exist, or end up Tutorial section, which seems to be the default end location for any faulty link.

1) There's browser and whatever settings, but if you can see one, you should be able to watch the entire game start to finish. Within the play at the bottom far left there's a button for "replay options" there's a check box about half way down that says "auto go to next play"

2) yes. Firstly the game is 15 years old. There's a lot of links that go places that no longer exist. Most recently, there was the "data apocalypse" which broke a lot of things. You can read the announcement about that, if you haven't already. I'm sure we'll still be finding things that don't work for a long time.

@TJ Spikes, Thanks. But isn't that simply stupid? In order to be able to watch a match, I have to go through 16 clicks. It would be much simpler if it had a simple "Watch the game" option at the top of the game.

@Theo, thanks. That link is very useful. I quickly read about leveling and turns out I'm not doing the right thing. I was worried since everyone else was higher level than me.

You're welcome.
But, considering your thoughts on watching a game, I would ask you to consider this; The singular 'one replay at a time' has been in place forever. Likely because it was the easiest to code and made the most sense. It's not like the graphics are amazing or some such... it's why everyone calls 'em "Dots" and/or "Dotball". Anyways... to replay an entire game would require a MUCH more intensive code and, likely, more server space. I don't think Bort (and Warrior Games) would have such a massive change on their "to do" list... maybe not even ever. It might be frustrating to some... but it's also understandable.

Bort and company DID manage to, at least, give you a PLAY BY PLAY, text based, ability to watch the whole game. To use this, look up near the top of your home page. Specifically, find the bar just under "My Account Home".
The second clickable box is listed "Games".
Open that and it gives you a page that lists all teams you own, are a part of (such as GM invite), or have players on... PLUS it gives you the ability to "Watch Game". You won't get the graphics of watching a single play with little dots running all about... but it will begin at the start of the game and give you a text based play-by-play. It's probably the best WG could come up with at the time the game was built.

I emphasized that last line above because it's very important to the whole situation. This game has been here a LONG time. Many other games have come and gone in the time this game has been going. The code is old. As we just found out... the servers are old too. Upgrading would be like trying to play floppy disk games on a 2023 computer with the latest everything. Some aspects have already caused us major issues. That Wiki copy is because the old one died. Flash was used when this game 1st started... now it usually doesn't work anymore. And there's other things that time and stuff have made obsolete for us. So maybe something COULD be done... but I'm betting it would be a MAJOR headache to write the code for and require even more server space than we already have available to us. That's likely why it will probably stay as it is. I could be wrong... but I don't think so. Who knows.
