I've just returned and discovered the data loss. No worries there.

But I see the season has started already. Does it make sense for me to create players now or should I just wait until the off-season?

Might as well jump in. This season is a place holder anyway. There could be a bunch of changes on the horizon, so every dot created this season can be retired with a 100% refund.

At this point, you probably may just as well hang on until after this season, because (hopefully!) monumental changes are coming that may change things a lot starting in season 100.

That being said, I believe that all dots being created currently are 100% refunded as far as flex when they are retired, so it literally wouldn't cost you anything to mess around this season as well. Bort hasn't announced an end to that 100% refund policy yet, so it should still hold.

Changes to the actual sim? Like we might have to have new types of dot builds?

More than likely changes to how long the build process takes to plateau, perhaps down from 7 seasons currently to only 3 or 4 seasons, depending on where Bort lands with it. No new dot archetypes have been said to be in play yet, but people have been asking for the ability to swap out/choose their own SA trees, and/or create their own "archetypes" by selecting Major/Minor attributes, but that hasn't really gotten any traction from Bort that I've seen.

So, yeah, new dot builds for sure, if by that you mean strategies for building, because of the potential compression of time in the build process.

Lots of unknowns still, is the TL/DR.

Alright I'll hold off as well then. Been out of the game for about 4 years now. Figured I would come back since I got 4 free players a bunch of flex.

Coming back to check out the changes. Glad to see Bort made his way back. Should have never created a second football game, IMO.

If there were a way to notify inactive past players of the accelerated changes to build time, this maybe an opportunity to increase the activity here.

They have the e-mail addresses, if the user supplied an actual e-mail address, that they could send out an e-mail to reach users. Would certainly be worth it, IMO.

Are you even allowed to do that anymore if someone hasn’t subscribed to receiving emails

It’s not as easy as it sounds per Bort, the mass mailings usually end up getting GLB blacklisted. He would need to find a company to do it that isn’t too expensive.

You guys make some good points. It is legal in the United States to send an unsolicited commercial email, but it must comply with the CAN-SPAM Act. I figured if the e-mail address were in a database that it would be easy to extract those values and compose an e-mail with a script (PHP?). I am sure Bort has more knowledge on the area than I do, so if he says it is difficult, I will take his word for it.

There is a check box that users can check or uncheck on the Account Settings page regarding e-mails:
Yes, please send me email about sales, promotions, and free reward points (We will NEVER give or sell your email address to any third parties)

Whatever is decided, I think we all agree that we want to see the game revived and close to the way it used to be. I hope to see an influx of new users to the game or old users returning.
