1. Brothers in Arms (7-1) With only 1 WL team and no ability to cheat, Mauler and company have apparently stepped it up a bit. #1 offense and #1 defense so far. Only loss came to a scrappy War Machine team.
2. Florida Frenzy (7-1) Their only loss came to BiA, so they sit at #2. With only 1 WL championship since s88, Florida seems to be a top contender once again to perhaps repeat.
3. The 4th Street Gang (6-2) Dropping the most overrated GLB in OC has paid dividends as they still hold the #3 offense and #2 defense. This team in 1st phase decline will perhaps slow down the stretch though. Given Nexill's defense is no longer #1 in WL, we must ask ourselves if Ivian's motivationals is the key to elite Nexill defenses?
4. Asau Golden Eagles (5-3) There was a 5 game span where they won 3 games by 3 pts each, then lost to Nomad Nation and the Grey Bandits. Still going strong, but I feel the 2nd half the season has a large range of outcomes here. #4 scoring defense leads the way with a thus far middling offense.
5. Tyrrhenian Sea Wasps (4-4) TSW started strong by have dropped 3 of their last 4 games. Contender or pretender remains to be seen. Currently showing the #5 offense and #8 defense through 8 games.
6. C-Town MF'n Hood (3-5) The legend tomcic has returned. Gone are the days of lame screens for interceptions, and back are the days of a high-flying WL passing game. Some say Tomcic was inspired by Wise Ivan's cheap immitation passing offense to show the fans how its really done. 2nd ranked offense, but the defense has been holding the plane on the ground so far, however a holding War Machine to 6 pts last week is promising.
7. Orlando Prime Timers (3-5) The last 3 seasons OPT has gone Gold-Gold-Silver in the WL, which isn't that bad for a team run by a bunch of what I can only assume are computer code hackers that are manipulating the dots. The #9 offense and #9 defense looks kinda shitty, but I'm pretty sure the LexRyWinter ultra network has some fight in them.
8. Jersey Showboats (4-4) Personally I find their jersey colors both uniquely interesting, but also eye-destroying. It's worth noting that while most feel Barbiecore was started by the upcoming hit movie, it was actually started by the Showboats! The 10th ranked offense and 6th ranked defense on a team that's lost 2 straight (and likely loses to 4th Street) makes me wonder how they will fare in the 2nd half.
9. WAR MACHINE (3-5) Wins over TSW and especially BiA are impressive. Close losses to Jersey and OPT show they beling. The recent blowout loss to C-Town is disheartening though, but they are tired for the final Zeta playoff spot, which is pretty solid.
10. Grey Bandits (2-6) These lifeless corpses started the season 0-6, but have surged to close wins over Asau and TSW. Now they find themselves only 1 spot back from the #4 seed in Alpha, halfway through the season. While technically the #12 offense and #12 defense, I am following the recent momentum here putting them 10th.
11. Miami Red Hawks (2-6) The team often called the Blood Birds started a rough looking 0-5, but with 4/5 losses by 8 points or less. They have since won 2 of their last 3, with bigtime blowout victories over both C-Town and Nomad. Only 1 game out of the wildcard spot, their is still a lot of life here for the squad that's been hanging in WL since s86.
12. Nomad Nation (2-6) Only 1 game out of a playoff spot, but Nomad has had a rough go of it. Last loss was 45-3 against a Blood Bird team that was 1-6 going into the match-up. the #11 ofeense with only 16 ppg is the achilles heel here, while the 7th ranked defense is trying their best..
===========================
Overall, 12/12 teams are within 1 win of a playoff spot halfway through. Hopefully the 2nd half of the season results in 6*8 = 48 ties, to keep my rankings intact.
