I posted in the (team) forum on this as well and, yes, strange in any way you go. I suspect he forgot to renew the ownership and that this wasn't planned.

I talked to him earlier today ... the Owls are dead guys, try to find a new home.

I think he did forget to renew but there will not be a mad scramble to put it back together. He just doesn't have the bandwidth.
