I imagine there's several people around GLB that do. I was until the most recent President took over and then pulled out and invested elsewhere more stable... for now at least.

Well, IMO, for now getting in on the ground floor of any decent cannabis company (legal) would be a good thing. Canada just did legalize so it's just now ramping up and should return good gains early. Watch for shifts in 'leaders' among the various companies and either jump to a better mover or just sell high if you seen a downward trend. Again, IMO.

Depends on if state laws counter fed laws in the state where you live. Where I am I could (have) get arrested for funding an illegal operation... or it was that way 2 years ago. Now that medical marijuana is legal, the laws have possibly changed. Dunno yet. Haven't checked it out.

CBD oil is legal in all 50 states, so that's what I'm confused about.

Oh, the oil is, but like KP I wanted to get in on the ground floor of company stock for one of these start up cannabis companies (shortly after Colorado mad it legal there, actually) and found out there was a law (state, I believe) against investing $ into a company that knowing engaged in an illegal activity such as the raising of marijuana (where CBD oil comes from)... which was/is still federally illegal. I could get into the knotty details but that's the gist of what was said to me at the time. It was considered funding an illegal/criminal operation. But, that was several years ago and I haven't checked on it since. Likely some laws/rules have changed there. I have no idea about out-of-country investment rules/laws though concerning that though so, in the end, my post to KP isn't very useful.

Trust me I know how it works...I guess KP is just not being very detailed.

Well, if the company she's talking about doesn't actually GROW the marijuana to get it's product then I would think it would be legal and something worth looking into. Would treat it like any other startup in a new field... who are the competitors... how big/strong is the company... how many other investors... how many customers... all the usual stuff to see if it's got enough to keep going. Right now there's a buttload of startups in this new field. Some will survive... others will get bought out... still others will just die off. I worked for one such type of company. At the time I hired on it was the 3rd largest in the nation. 9/11 hit... rules changed... company was waaaaaay to slow to comply to the new privacy rules and also slow in upgrading it's system to take advantage of the new rules... we went from 1,500 people on 3 shifts to about 250 on one shift... belly up before year's end. It can happen very fast and you don't want to be holding stock in a dying company.
