Can't believe I hadn't put this together in my head until now but it struck me today that the specialized WR slots (WR1, WR2, WR3, WR4, & WR5) only show up when choosing progressions for the QB in the passing play. Or so I thought. Today I found you could select those specialized WR slots for runs as well. Which led to my (erroneous?) conclusion that if you DO NOT select a specialized slot, then the package/AI chooses the player from the depth chart from the standard/GENERIC WR slot... right? Or does choosing the specialized slots in the progressions.... even on a rushing play... mean nothing at all towards who plays at those WR positions?

From the generic WR depth chart. So if you run to the right, put your strong WR on that side.

Ah. Thanks. I suspected as much but wasn't 100% sure. Better to ask instead of assume.

Yeah I quit using the regular chart all together. Imo, that just a casual hold over. The only way it makes sense is if all of the WRs were roughly identical.

Even if you had all Speedster builds (for example) the odds of not having a couple of better ones you wanted to feature (WR1/2) or conversely, a worse one you wanted to avoid (WR4/5) are pretty slim.

Well, I know I'm late to the party but wondered how the packages interfaced with the depth chart in that situation. What I take from this is, if you don't select the specific WR's in the progressions then it takes from the generic WR slot... no matter if run or pass. Don't know as to how this will effect how I do my AI's and packages but it is good to know it works that way. Might be something I can use someday.
