The fact that an issue like this and my longstanding concern of global team rankings being broken for so long still exist is a slap in our face.

I understand they are not going to do anymore major overhauls or tweaks of the sim. Beta was about getting a balanced sim and removing any major game play bugs which I think they more or less achieved and they moved on. But to not offer support for known issues that should be easy fixes is really disappointing as a customer.

Unfortunately customer service was never a strong suit for WG which is a shame.

You got the last part right.

But in my original post you missed a very key word. They said they were going to make no more changes, they didnt say updates, they literally said no more changes....that includes fixing things that are broken.

From the little that i know my thought is they coding is so on top of itself they fix one thing and it ends up breaking something else and I think he just got so damn tired of chasing his tail. Truthfully they should have just done a complete re-write of the code and then it could have been an amazing game going forward and easier to update......but in order to do that past records would be lost and most of the userbase would not have liked that....

I guess my point about these threads is...it's pointless to ask for, or ask why, they will not fix anything....they very pointedly said they are done making any and all CHANGES to the game....

It's up to the user to decide if it is still worth playing the game and/or purchasing flex....many have made that decision....

Spider I get t, and I am here and made the choice.

But to me fixing a flawed MVP calculation, or fixing a broken global ranking system are not changes. I do understand the coding issue you speak of and that would certainly be true of sim changes. We saw that through many seasons of Beta sim changes where a tweak of the sim would have unintended consequences within the sim. I don't believe the ancillary fixes would be in that same ball park.

Honestly I think we all know they won't fix anything, but every now and then venting about it in the forums is refreshing. I think some of us hope that one day they will listen.

This thread is like listening to a teen boy continuing to beg his 1st girlfriend to please please please take him back after she's already told him quite clearly she's over him and has been banging his buddy for 6 months.

I dont know that I would assume the shaky coding is only in the sim.

MVP is just "calculations", you try and fix one thing and then kickers are winning the offensive MVP award

Either way I'm almost positive that all of the coding is shaky.

I'm 99.9% one of the admins, if not all of them have already stated that. Bort or DD or catch said that the initial coding for this game is so poor that it's hard to make updates. Bort probably burnt himself out.

truly is a shame. even just minor updates every season wouldve been really, really helpful for the userbase. but it's not going to happen, bort isnt coming back, this is the game and that is all there is to it.

i still love playing this game it's just expensive filling a team and impossible to find coordinators. other than that, I'm still having fun.

I certainly believe this of the sim programming. But things like the broken MVP calculations or broken global rankings are not directly tied to the sim programming.

They aren't, however they are still coded parts of the game....they started with a shell, and it was explained to me that everything they added on top was just kind of pieced together, they should have gone back and cleaned some things up. In fact it was likely one of the reasons bort got so burnt out. Every little thing he changed broke something else, and I'm not talking about the sim at all here. I was told the only way future changes would happen is if the entire game was rebuilt with new code from the ground up, but that would have taken time AND it would have wiped records out from the first build.

There was also some rumors that somebody that helped bort with the code was interested in purchasing the company and redoing but ultimately decided they didnt want to because of the time it would have taken to rewrite the code.

When a program is written so poorly that anything you do breaks something else and then you gotta worry about fixing that as well it becomes a nightmare to work on. At that point, you are not really fixing anything & all your doing is putting a band aid(patch) on something that really needs to be replaced with a program that is well thought and & modular so any part of the code can be updated or even replaced, if needed. I have worked with many programs like this & at the end of the day you are better off reinventing the wheel with a vision, but if they are going to pay me lots of money to continue fixing the POS, so be it. They reinvented the wheel with GLB2, but lost focus on what the majority of the userbase liked about GLB Classic and ended up splitting the userbase to some degree which hurt both games. However, a GLB3 could fix this if it was modular in design so you can add/delete/update things on the fly without having to possibly break something else which you then have to fix. If they did this they could mold the game into what the userbase is looking for and make those changes easily. However, I personally don't think they will come out with another football sim after totally missing the mark with GLB2 which is a shame, but it is what it is. My two cents...

GLB3 would further fragment the userbase at this point. Bort's not making that mistake again.

The next GLB will have to come from somebody other than Bort. I'm not holding my breath.

I prefer GLB1, and I have zero interest in trying to "convert" GLB2 players back to GLB1. Both games have strengths and weaknesses. It just so happens that GLB1's strengths matter to me more than GLB2's strengths. And GLB1's weaknesses are in areas that I don't really worry about. So, I like GLB1 and I don't like GLB2. But neither of us is "right" or "wrong." You have fun playing GLB2, I have fun playing GLB1, and let's leave it at that. Let's leave the evangelism to religious fanatics, please.

Dangit, I think I posted this in the wrong thread.

Ah well. Let it stand here as a monument to my failure.

Game working as intended. That's why I quit playing. It's about the steady flow of incoming money to Bort. That's 'Merica.

Never really understood how you can be ranked higher at overall (Off/Def/ST) MVP and be ranked behind someone else in the positional rankings for those awards.
