Very slowly there's starting to be a separation within each conference. Time to try some new things if what you have isn't working - or is it? We only saw two games this week that were within a few scores (10 and three). At work this morning so I'll save you with my chit chat (you're welcome).

LEAGUE SURVIVOR
I'm irked as I'm out...darn you 3M and Vancouver!
49 entered and eight eliminated (22 winners had LG over the Turfbuilders). I will say my ousting was not my original pick...STICK WITH YOUR GUT in the message of the day.

GAME OF THE WEEK:
Chiefs - Sofia
As called by me during the pre-game summary these two went at it. While I was off with the "D's will dictate" on the scoreboard they did to an extent with six total turnovers (four lost fumbles - hit the weight room). The end game was exiting as the Spiders scored on a 92 yard TD strike from Boozy Patton Jr. to WR Ismeal Pritchard for the 38-34 lead. Game over - NOT SO FAST! The Chiefs took the ball from their own 20 with 1:09 left in the game and nine plays later hit pay dirt on a two yard rush by Kendal Hayes for the game winner for the Chiefs at 41-38. Tough loss for the Spiders and owner .spider. was stunned just curling up in the fetal position whispering "stop picking me as game of the week mk" (over and over - owner refused to be interviewed after the game).

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Brought their F'n Toys With Them, QB, Charlestown Chiefs. Calm, steady and nerves of steal. When you have to drive your team 80 yards with time ticking away a dot needs to come through and BFGTWT did just that in leading a game winning TD drive against the Sofia Spiders. The QB also had a whale of a game overall completing 28 of 41 passes (68.2%) while throwing for 337 yards and three TD's.

sunder B, ever thought about a name change here on this dot?!!!

WEEKLY PREDICTIONS Another 5-1 week (shout out to Vancouver for failing me not only in the predictions but in Survivor)...overall 16-2 (88.9% - yes, we round up).

LG Canucks @ Chile Chupacabras: I've played both and beat them by roughly the same amount but LG held me down to six FG's and Chile four (my O may not be the best or they have solid D's as we near the GL - I'll go with the later to help my ego). We didn't face rushing team QB's coming up so this may be a bit of a learning curve for LG. Chile seems to be at its best when they can control the clock and keep the O on the field and grind a D down. Both teams are going to give up some big plays but I have the Chupacabras run game strong in the 4th for the W...31-27

Not Fast, Just Furious @ Running Gag - NFJF gave up some rushing yards last week in a test that could be said failed. Now, they face a Gag team that can shove the ball down your throats. Do recall from the interview last week Gag owner did say he would take it easy on my boys (we're only as good as our word - right guys). A bit nervous for this one and hope Gag overlooks us - have a feeling reality hits my boys this week with Gag taking us down...48-17.
Sucks picking against oneself but I'm a realist.

Scott's Turfbuilders @ Tlingit Warriors - Warriors will even their record to get to that magical .500 mark...50-0.

Sofia Spiders @ Grand Rapids River Rats - Sofia has dropped two straight but the River Rats are only putting up 4.0 PPG. Something has to give and I think it will be the Grand Raapids D. Look for Sofia to look like Sofia of old as they chuck the ball around for a win...48-10.

Charlestown Chiefs @ Vancouver Gorillas - Let's face it, VG could be playing the Turfbuilders and I'd have had them losing as payback for knocking me out of survivor. However, they are playing one of the leagues hotter teams so that weight is added to the bar here as well. The Gorillas are about to get scalped (see, why don't some of you team owners have some names where I can get super duper witty?!!!)

Manhattan Midnight Warriors @ Magua's Revenge - Alright, 3M showed me some life last week but this is a new week and new ball game. They face a league heavy and I don't expect to be surprised this week. Look for the Revenge D to keep 3M in check and walk away in the second half...48-7.

POWER FIVE
1. Running Gag - Made short work of the Warriors shutting them out 61-0. Have given up only seven points on the season.
2. Charlestown Chiefs - Came through in the game of the week to take down Sofia 41-38. You put up 41 against the Spiders and you're doing something right. Have a big one with Revenge coming up.
3. Magua's Revenge - Hell bent on disrupting the Spider-Chiefs lovefest. Beat GRRR 52 and only gave up a FG.
4. Not Fast, Just Furious - We're legends in our own mind but alas a shift in strength of schedule may see clear skies darken quickly.
5. Sofia Spiders - Wait, what...a team with a losing record. These are my power five after all and considdering the rest of the league after the top four are 1-2 or 0-3 says it all.

HOT DOTS
1. Boozy Patton Jr., QB, Sofia Spiders. Leads the league in passing yards (1,710) and is second in TD passes (15).
2. Saul Garza, QB, Running Gag. League leader in rushing yards at 619.5 tied with a bunch of folks in rushing TD's at four.
3. Podgorica Montenegro, DE, Running Gag. League leader in sacks with 10 and also has five hurries to boot.
4. Magic !!, CB, LG Canucks. League leader in picks with six and also has a sack with 11 tackles.
5. Reece Becker, G, Chile Chupacabras. Leads the league with 48 pancakes

Enjoy the week!

LOL, no. I ran out of actual names from Slap Shot, so now the players are named after movie quotes.

Thanks for the props. Was a fun game and was sure game was over after they went up by 4 late.

After my biggest win ever in GLB I should just drop the mic, sail off into the sunset and find a nice beach with a couple of Coronas. That may be a bit premature as we're only a quarter of the way through the season. THE GOOD NEWS - the tourney starts today and that will fill a dead day on the schedule. Not much in the way of tight ball games this week with the closet being 11 points. Have a ton of work to do so getting this out and on the short side.

LEAGUE SURVIVOR
Starting to get serious now (all picks fit on my monitor) as 39 entered and seven eliminated.

GAME OF THE WEEK:
Chupacabras over the Canucks 34-23.
At half Chile led 20-9 but LG cut into the lead in the third by outscoring the Chupacabras 7-0. The 20-16 lead ballooned in the fourth as Chile put up for first 14 points to extend the lead to 34-16. LG did close the gap with a late TD but not enough time on the clock to make the full comeback.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
QB Saul Garza, Chile Chupacabras. Saul didn't win this week on the strength of his arm as he attempted zero passes. His legs were a different story. Garza carried the ball 12 times for 122 yards (10.2 ypc) while scoring two rushing TD's (10 and 62.5 yard TD carries). Saul's ability to break tackles (12) was a key component in Chile's success against the Canucks.

WEEKLY PREDICTIONS My third 5-1 week and I have no problems losing a game where I picked my team to lose (not a bad feeling there)...overall 21-3 (87.5%).

Running Gag @ LG Canucks: The Canucks didn't look bad in facing their first rushing team but the Gag is a different sort of animal. It's been since season 64 (weeks 6-8) where they lost back to back games (this was actually three in a row in S64). I like what I'm seeing progress with LG but it won't be enough this week...45-27.

Tlingit Warriors @ Not Fast, Just Furious - Sometimes when you're coming off a high you can expect a low and NFJF may be ripe for an upset as the Warriors are coming off a 70 point scalping of ST to even their mark at 2-2. I have confidence in my dots and don't expect a let down just yet...48-17.

Chile Chupacabras @ Scott's Turfbuilders - CC is coming off a nice W to even their record out and this game will get them ahead in the W column...100-0.

Vancouver Gorillas @ Sofia Spiders - I would have graded this as a must watch at the beginning of the season but the Gorillas have struggled to get going this season. Sofia had their number last season beating them by 77 and while I don't believe the margin will be that this season the Spiders will still win this game...56-13.

Grand Rapids River Rats @ Manhattan Midnight Warriors - Both of these teams have struggled out of the gate with a combined 1-7 record. Something has to give here and I've got 3M notching their second win of the season...20-10.

GAME OF THE WEEK
Magua's Revenge @ Charlestown Chiefs - WHEW! How many of you have been waiting for this one? The old vets against the up and comers (that's what she said). Last season this one wasn't overly exiting as the Chiefs rolled to a 21 point victory (31-10) but a fast start took the sail (not sure why I'm hitting on this whole sailing thing today?!!!) out of Magua early as the Chiefs jumped out to a 24-0 halftime lead. The stats were about even although the Chiefs ground game was more dominate (127.5 to 44.5) but you can point to a big lead early for that. I do think if the Chiefs can get the ground game going in this one they'll put some pressure on the Revenge D and they may not hold up early. If they hold up they'll have a shot as playing from behind is not a win for any team. I got the Chiefs sending a shot across the bow early and taking home a tight when when the final whistle blows...27-20.

POWER FIVE
1. Charlestown Chiefs (4-0) - The Chiefs made short work of the Gorillas beating them by 44 points. CC is averaging 68 PPG - good luck defenses.
2. Magua's Revenge (4-0 - Stopped the momentum of 3M with a 45 point beating. The Magua D is only yielding 10.5 ppg
3. Not Fast, Just Furious (4-0) - Shocking W over Running but a couple late TD's made it look worse than it was. The D playing well giving up only 9.5 ppg.
4. Running Gag (3-1) - Not a team to count out as one regular season loss does not define a season - they'll be back and everyone better look out.
5. Sofia Spiders (2-2) - Spiders even their record with a 63 point win over the River Rats.

Enjoy the tourney action.

GG Blue Max - got a couple of deep TD's to get the ball rolling in that first half.

ROUND 2:

Off on the Warriors prediction so 7-1 the first round.

Gag v. Just Furiious - We may be overly confident.
Chupacabras v. Gorillas - All west semi final on this side of the bracket.
Spiders v. Warriors - Spiders looking sharp and I'd consider the Warriors the dark horse of the remaining teams.
Revenge v. Chiefs - This very well could be a final showdown and I'll run with my top power team here.

Shocked but we all know reg ssn means nothing. I'm just glad to be back involved with CasPro after all this time....luckily it is "casual" as I don't get much spare time these days but enough to sign in every day .

GG Warriors.

After week five we're down to only two undefeated teams (Just Furious and the Chiefs). It's bit late so I'll keep the chatter to a minimum. Anyone else watching the NBA summer league games - glad they are finally airing those as I'm not a baseball fan. Sorry, had to throw a little distraction in there as five of the six games were 41 plus point wins with only one game within one score...slight of hand my friends.

SHOUT OUT
To ShowTyme as the River Rats captured their first W on the season in convincing fashion over 3M.

SURVIVOR
32 entered with only one elimination.

GLB TOURNEY
Recapped it already so scroll up a few posts. Hey, it's late!!!!

GAME OF THE WEEK:
An easy one that I laid out in the pre-week preview. The Chiefs and Revenge went at it for early season supremacy in the East and we were not disappointed. Well, madrocker4 and Co. are probably disappointed. I had the spread at seven so they cover there but a loss is a loss is a loss.

The Chiefs beat Magua in a hard fought 30-24 game. The Revenge jumped out to a 10-3 halftime lead while putting further pressure on the Chiefs by scoring first in the third to extend the lead to 17-3. The Chiefs thought nothing of the 14 point margin and countered with a TD of their own 44 second later on a 70 yard TD jaunt by Harry Testies. The lead at the end of three remained seven for the Revenge as the teams exchanged TD's closing out the third. Harry Testies set the ton on the long run and tied things up on a 2.5 TD run with 6:25 left.

Two costly turnovers in crunch time deflated the Revenge. With 3:19 left QB Ghost of Bumpo was picked and while the D helf the Chiefs to a three and out the interception happened at the Revenge's 22 yard line. The Chiefs kicked the FG for the three point lead with 2:00 left - plenty of time. Well, while it seems like I'm repeating myself QB Ghost of Bumpo was picked by the Chiefs - inside the Revenge territory (33 yard line) where the Revenge D held and forced another FG with 1:17 left. Not over, the fat lady hasn't sung yet. The Revenge drive to th Chiefs 22 where QB Ghost of Bumpo completes a four yard pass on 4th and 14.5 - YES the fat lady starts singing here.

Great game by two worthy opponents. So much for not getting chatty.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
RB Harry Testies, Charlestown Chiefs. He would have likely got it based off the name alone but the dot also played well and gave the Chiefs life when they were down 14 points in the third quarter by busting the 70 yard TD run. The dot also tied the game on his second TD run in the fourth. The dot finished with 10 carries for 131.5yds and two rushing TD's. His comment to the media after the game was "GET ME THE MOTHER F&*((&* BALL MORE!!!"

WEEKLY PICKS Another 5-1 week and an overall record of 26-4.

Vancouver Gorilla @ Not Fast, Just Furious - I had a few dots on Riley's Chocolate Blaze team back in the day and we did alright. However, the Gorillas are struggling a bit this season and have dropped three in a row by only scoring 4.3 ppg in that stretch. That won't get it done this week...38-14.

Sofia Spiders @ LG Canucks - Lots of passes expected in this one as Shook and Patto Jr. go at it through the air. I've seen firsthand LG's ability to pick the ball off but Shook's picks are greater than his TD's at this point and Sofia's D will be doing some flexing in this one...38-17.

Grand Rapids River Rats @ Scott's Turfbuilders - Good opportuity for Grand Rapids to get some distance and grab ahold of that fourth place in the East. This one should be a layup for the River Rats...44-0.

Manhattan Midnight Warriors @ Running Gag - 3M's been a hard read on the season but no matter this week as Gag's D is simply too strong for the Warriors struggling O...48-6.

Magua's Revenge @ Chile Chupacabras - These two had a war in their first game last season but the second saw the Revenge beat them by 31. I'll split the difference and have the Revenge winning by a couple of TD's...28-14.

Charlestown Chiefs @ Tlingit Warriors - Warriors trying to even their record out but against one of the leagues top teams it just won't happen...80-10.

POWER FIVE
1. Charlestown Chiefs - Came from behind in the second half to beat another elite team in the Revenge. One of only two unbeatens who remain.
2. Not Fast, Just Furious - Nothing to see here, move along.
3. Mangua's Revenge - Lost a tight one to the Chiefs as a couple of turnovers sunk them in the closing minutes.
4. Running Gag - They keep quiet most of the time but deadly none the less as they blanked LG.
5. Sofia Spiders - Seem to be bidding their time and keeping a low profile as they let CC and MR make noise early.

GLB CASUAL RANKINGS Have to assume only Spider agrees with these...GLB hates Charlestown!!!!
10. Sofia Spiders
36. Vancouver Gorillas
73. Magua's Revenge
118. LG Canucks
128. Grand Rapids River Rats 2571
240. Manhattan Midnight Warriors
253. Scott's Turfbuilders
339. Not Fast, Just Furious
350. Running Gag
395. Tlingit Warriors
428. Chile Chupacabras
484. Charlestown Chiefs

Alright, 2:00 AM and need to hit they hay. I may not do a week seven as I got some things going on over the weekend.
