First, happy 4th of July! Second, the season has officially begun with week one in the books and week two staring us in the face. Unlike the fourth, there was a dud in the opening games with five of the six games decided by 27 or more points. Only one game held it close and ended up within one score (Warriors 26 Canucks 24). This week shapes up a bit better as we could have some barn burners but I won't hold my breath to long.

League Survivor
71 entered week one and nine picked wrong.

CP Tourney
Figure I'd spoil all your fun and predict the tourney.

Round 1: Gag, NFJF, CC, VG, Sofia, GRRR, MR, and Chiefs.
Round 2: Gag, VG, Sofia, and Chiefs
Semis: Gag and Chiefs
Champion: Chiefs

Game of the Week
This one was a no brainer as only one game resulted in a score within each other. The Tlingit Warriors beat the LG Canucks 26-24. The Warriors jumped out to a 13-0 halftime lead befroe LG struck first in the third. The teams traded TD's in the third before LG said "F this" and tried to rally in the fourth. They fell short though they outscored the Warriors 17-6.

Player of the Week
FB My Corona, Tlingit Warriors. The FB didn't carry the ball much (twice for 11.5 yards) but did his work catching the ball out of the backfield. The dot had 12 catches for 73 yards and scored the lone Warrior TD in the fourth which resulted Tlingit getting the win.

Weekly Picks 5-1 to start the season as the lone loss was picking LG over Tlingit. I had to look it up (MK dropping knowlege):
The Tlingit (/ˈklɪŋkɪt/ or /ˈtlɪŋɡɪt/; also spelled Tlinkit) are indigenous peoples of the Pacific Northwest Coast of North America. Their language is the Tlingit language (natively Lingít, pronounced [ɬɪnkɪ́t]), in which the name means "People of the Tides".

Tlingit Warriors @ Chile Chupacabras: The Warriors screwed me over in the opening weekend and I'll give them a chance to bend me over once again. I'm rolling CC in this one as I believe their ground game will be too much for TW to overcome...31-13.

Not Fast, Just Furious @ LG Canucks: I believe LG may have lost to mess with my W/L record (yeah, the owener is like that). With Furious having a current four game win streak over the Canucks we'd like to add to that and hopefully we will...31-20.

Scott's Turfbuilders @ Running Gag: Scott's is undermanned and overpowered and it will shine brightly here...200-0.

Manhattan Midnight Warriors @ Charlestown Chiefs: Warriors were flat in week one while the Chiefs looked red hot. Have to say unless we see a spark out of Manhattan midnight will come quick as the Chiefs roll here...56-0.

Grand Rapids River Rats @ Vancouver Gorillas: The River Rats struggled in their opening CP game and did not score a point. It won't get easier against the veteran Gorillas team. Look for Vancouver to give some Canadian love the day after the 4th...31-13.

Game of the Week: Sofia Spiders @ Magua's Revenge: These two faced off once last season and Revenge pulled out the win 17-13. Spider and his boys will try to get a little "revenge" of their own this week (see what I did there - I'm so darn clever). Both teams looked solid in their opening games but while Sofia is airing it out and Revenge hits you with some balance it won't be the offenses getting praise at the end of the game. The D's will dictate the terms for each team and I got a costly pick from Sofia being the difference in this one as Magua takes this victory...20-17.

It is the 4th and I am in the office...no rest for the weary. When someone tell you 10% of the workers do 90% of the job - BELIEVE IT!!

GG LG_85.

A hangover coming off the fourth but the loooong weekend is about to hit. I have tomorrow off so I am pumped. It's way to early to talk about the playoffs or is it?!!! I'll get my top power five out this week to get some teams motivated who may not be on it...CP is all about the drama. Anyone living in So. Cal hope you're alright from the quake.

League Survivor
Dropping like flies as 60 entered (think my count was right) and 10 eliminated.

GAME OF THE WEEK
Magua's Revenge took down the Sofia Spiders 31-13 in what was a closer game within the game (yeah, trying to pump up the closest game of the week). Revenge jumped out to a 17-3 halftime lead but the Spiders woke up in the third quarter reeling off the first 10 points of the second half to even things up at 17...GAME ON! Uh no, Sofia failed to score the rest of the way while Magua scored 14 in the third to close out the game as neither scored in the fourth...I did have as my game of the week so yippee there.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
RB #34 *****HERSCHEL WALKER II*****, Magua's Revenge. Walker was a steady force in the game carrying the ball 26 times for 91 yards and two TD's. The TD's came on one and 2.5 yard TD plunges battering the Spider D into submission.

WEEKLY PREDICTIONS Had a 6-0 week pushing my predictions to an amazing 11-1 overall.

LG Canucks @ Scott's Turfbuilders - I don't shy away from saying the Turfbuilders are going to struggle every game this season and this week is no different. Expect a big offensive explosion from the Canucks...100-0.

Running Gag @ Tlingit Warriors - Gag is just running over, through and around their opponents and a back to back is looking more promising each week. The Warriors are not going to present much of a target and expect Running to walk away with this one...100-0.

Chile Chupacabras @ Not Fast, Just Furious - This will be a good test for my team in accessing our run defense capabilty (a bit nervous on how the D is built TBH). I do think our O is getting fine tuned and we'll be able to out muscle Chile on the scoreboard...38-34.

Magua's Revenge @ Grand Rapids River Rats - I came up with some battles with Grand Rapids but they've struggled since arriving in CP. Yes, early but catching a tough Magua squad isn't the medicine any doctor would prescribe. I got Revenge being a bit to powerful and will keep the River Rats from swimming...45-6.

Vancouver Gorillas @ Manhattan Midnight Warriors - 3M has only put up 3.5 ppg but in their defense they have played the toughest schedule. With that, they'll play and put up more points but our neighbors to the north will reign supreme after coming off a nice W last week...31-20.

Game of the Week: Charlestown Chiefs @ Sofia Spiders:
The two salty veteran Casual Pro owners face off in an early season who's the King of the Hill in the Eastern Conference. This is the second week in a row the Spiders are featured in GOTW honors though they might not call it an honor after the loss last week. My spidy senses are saying the Chiefs are the heavy favorite in this one and the gambler in me is screaming "take the underdog." Looking at last season (yep, I realize two different seasons) the Chiefs took Sofia out to the wood shed twice and then beat them by 14. The final game of the season was for the conference title and the Chiefs made short work in the 50-17 win. I can't see that drubbing happening again but I do have the Chiefs over the Spiders...31-24.

POWER FIVE
1. Running Gag - Someone's got to bump off the defending champs to move them from their top spot (doesn't look so easy).
2. Charlestown Chiefs - Clawing at the shoe strings of Gag but the Chiefs go something going of their very own.
3. Magua's Revenge - I'd called it from the pre-season...KEEP AN EYE ON THIS TEAM. With my big mouth they are no longer hiding in the weeds but have that target on their backs - you're welcome!
4. Sofia Spiders - I'm a fan of the all passing team and the Spider's are weaving a web on the arm of Boozy Patton Jr. (side note, Boozy Patton played for the Spiders from seasons 30-35 throwing for over 35,000 yards).
5. Not Fast, Just Furious - Yeah, yeah. I realize my schedule has not been laden (took me four tries to get the spelling right) with the league heavyweights yet so let me enjoy being undefeated for a week or so.

Interview
This week I've reached out to Running Gag owner Disastermaster to pick his brain on the happenings in Casual Pro and life in general.

MK: Thanks for agreeing to an interview.

DM: No problem, going to be laid up for a hot minute due to a little firework incident last night.

MK: Oh my, what happened DM?

DM: A few of us had a few drinks and decided to play hot potato with a lit M-80. As you've probably guessed I ended up with the hot potato.

MK: Potato or potatoe?

DM: That's what you get from my story? Potato.

MK: Just saying, Oxford dictionaires may side with me.

DM: My hand is bleeding again so we need to hurry this along.

MK: Put pressure on it and do 1,000 jumping jacks to really get that heart rate going.

DM: Thanks, I'll give it a go after we get off here.

MK: Name me two owners you hate in the league.

DM: That's pretty easy: .spider. and Aaron Rodgers 12. At first I thought they were a couple but to each their own. Sofia nipped me in the title game in season 71. It was more than the loss as at that time we entered back into casual with a 105 game win streak, added 16 more in the regular season and two more in the division playoffs. Sitting with a 123 game winning streak to lose that and the title game stung. To boot, a one point loss - I'd rather have lost by 100 that watch my QB fumble to ball to be scooped up by a defender for what turned out to be the game winner. No, no, not bitter at all. Really, nothing against Rogers, you said owners and I just don't like sunder B. It was great throttling those MFers twice last season and last but not least in the tile game. Suck it sunder!

MK: Well, that was pretty specific, thanks for the honesty. Now, you gotta have love with all that hate - who you have as your favorite owner?

DM: Another easy one. You, mk. By far the coolest dude in all of GLB and likely the entire planet.

MK: Thank you, my mom tells me the same thing and my dating profiles are of similar statement (chicks dig GLB).

DM: Tell her I said hi...nah, I'll say hi on her FB.

MK: How do you see this season shaking out?

DM: Another butt pounding of the Chiefs although I'm doubtful they can get to the title game. A broken clock is right twice during a 24 hour period.

MK: How do you access Casual Pro in its current state?

DM: If you take a look at last season of my wins/losses only four games were within seven or less points. Otherwise it was route city. A quarter of the games are competitive and that about sums it up from the past umpteen seasons. Just not enough teams comming up at the same time as most rebuild vice reload. I'm guilty of that as I like to start fresh from rookie to the pros.

MK: A shame GLB never added the feature to build dots later in the life span or to even extend the 280 without hitting the decline.

DM: Preach on mk!!!

MK: I know you likely have some fire works to toss around so I'll let you get going and see you on the grid iron in week four.

DM: I'll take it easy on you buddy - thanks but I need to get to the hospital.

Everyone enjoy their weekends!
