Is it possible to make a QB that Is actually able to run effectively and pass effectively. It seems the way QBs are coded they either sit back or are used soley as runners . I want to build a QB who doesnt need to lead the league in passing just well enough to succeed in the WL.

People try but they never work.

I use to think like PK and Seric but I think there is a way... but it calls for 3 things to make it work.
#1, give up on the typical super speed RQB style build. Instead you need to create a Power style rusher out of a normal Deep Passer arch. It has Strength as a main skill and speed as a secondary which fits the Power Runner style. So the OC must have an idea when creating the team of using the QB in that way and fit that within the offensive scheme.

#2, Also know that you won't be able to make (with any decent quality) certain types of passes. The throwing quality just won't be good enough. Doesn't mean you cannot complete some passes and, again, you'll need a good OC to know this and make sure the routes and plays he chooses to have the QB throw in work within the QB's abilities.

#3, What makes it work is the OC along with a decent enough build. Trying to make a speed style RQB that can throw generally leaves the throwing skill so low at the top levels that the best it can do is complete screens which makes it not completely worthless in the passing game but not very effective. With the Power Style you'll have enough strength and passing skill to make slightly longer passes effectively... enough speed to not be so slow it's tackled before it gets past the LOS... and strength/power rushing skills that helps it break tackles now and again so it's at least a simi-functional power rusher.

It's the better of the two options but neither can really ever be so effective to be of truly high quality. It's why most teams use a 2 (or three) QB system. The plus about having an effective dual use QB is it makes the defense play simi-honest. I mean, they simply cannot tag and 100% sell out against the QB's just because one only runs and one only passes. The negative is, by making it useful as a passer, you diminish it as a rusher. That's why the Power Style rush build works slightly better. At least you have one less skill to suck away SP's and training from (as compared to the Speed style) since Strength is a part of the Throwing build anyway.

even the best made QBs have a rough time at the highest levels. you start to pull training/SPs for speed and i suspect your performance will nosedive as a passing QB. the question is can you be good enough for the short game while having enough speed to get outside for any real gains. and will any one sign a qb with such limited and obvious skills?

to be fair, good luck at anyone making a top quality dot and getting on a tomcic team. no one else passes 75% of the time.

Lex is correct. Deep Passer has Agility as a Secondary, but Speed is NOT a Primary or Secondary for this Archetype.
