Sorry for the silence, wife and kids have all been sick this week. Miraculously, I have not gotten sick myself.

I may have gloated about this a little at home.

Okay, I may have gloated A LOT about this at home.

My wife is probably brushing her teeth with my toothbrush as we speak.

LOL. I'm always the last one sick. Usually starts with my son, then my grandson, his mom, my wife, then me. And wouldn't you know it, I always get hit hardest.

RANKINGS - AFTER GAME 8 AND TOURNEY QUARTERFINALS

#01 Hawaiian Kings (8-0 in Elite #1)
Results for Games 5-8: beat Paris 52-3, beat Palm Bay 42-13, beat All-American 42-17 and 28-0, beat ECE 59-0
Other important results: beat Sydney 77-10, beat HighRollers 70-3, beat Adriatic 41-0
This is getting ridiculous... the closest anyone's come to beating Hawaii this season is All-American's 25-point loss. Hell, at this point, Hawaii is so far ahead of everyone else, I should just leave #2 blank and skip to #3.

#03 Palm Bay Palookas (7-1 in Elite #1)
Results for Games 5-8: beat All-American 31-14, lost to Hawaii 42-13, beat Sydney 45-17 and 26-6
Other important results: beat Montlake 56-26, beat ECE 20-14
(Full disclosure: this is my team, so I may be biased.) Palm Bay fell to Hawaii by 29, but continues to take care of business against everyone else, including avenging last season's embarrassing loss to ECE.

#04 All-American Crimson Lancers (5-3 in Elite #1)
Results for Games 5-8: lost to Palm Bay 31-14, beat Sydney 66-0, lost to Hawaii 42-17 and 28-0, beat Adriatic 31-0
Other important results: lost to ECE 21-11, beat Montlake 13-0
Against other legitimate human teams, All-American is winning by an average score of 21-17, which is indicative of both their stingy defense and their inconsistent offense. Their early 10-point loss to ECE also looks worse every week as ECE continues to fade. But the Lancers defense means they have a chance in every game they play.

#05 New Orleans Jazz Cats (8-0 in League #2)
Results for Games 5-8: beat Mets 16-3, beat 4th Street 45-0
Other important results: beat Hood Rich 16-3
It's hard to compare New Orleans to any teams from Elite #1, but their defense has put them head-and-shoulders above everyone else in League #2, and their past history shows they can hang with anyone in this age tier.

#06 Montlake Huskies (5-3 in Elite #1)
Results for Games 5-8: beat Adriatic 6-3, lost to Paris 23-10, beat Monmouth 19-7
Other important results: beat ECE 13-7, lost to Palm Bay 56-26, lost to All-American 13-0
Montlake's defense is just about as good as All-American's, but Montlake's offense continues to struggle mightily. In 6 games against legit human teams, Montlake's offense has scored a grand total of 4 TDs. The rest of their points have come from FGs or kick/punt returns. But they've found a winning formula with their defense, and that might just be enough for now.

#07 ECE Respawn (4-4 in Elite #1)
Results for Games 5-8: lost to Paris 13-0, beat HighRollers 34-3, lost to Hawaii 59-0
Other important results: beat All-American 21-11, lost to Montlake 13-7, lost to Palm Bay 20-14
I really thought ECE's gameplanning skills were going to keep them relevant in this age tier for much longer than this, but ECE's subpar builds are fading fast in Season 71, and ECE is now a mere shadow of the team that nearly took down Hawaii twice in Season 70. They can beat mediocre teams like the Jersey HighRollers and maybe pull off the occasional upset of a team like All-American, but on-balance, ECE is no longer a team to truly fear.

#08 Hood Rich Dotballers (7-1 in League #2)
Results for Games 5-8: beat Monmouth 27-0
Other important results: beat Mets 50-41, lost to New Orleans 16-3
Crushed Monmouth, but struggled to top the Mets and got outclassed by New Orleans. Hood Rich is doing better than I thought they would, but this may be their ceiling.

#09 Monmouth Evil Monkeys (7-1 in League #2)
Results for Games 5-8: beat 4th Street 25-0, lost to Hood Rich 27-0, lost to Montlake 19-7
Other important results: no other significant games
Monmouth should have no problems winning their conference, but their striking loss to Hood Rich doesn't bode well for their upcoming game with New Orleans later this week. And their loss to Montlake in the Tourney shows they would struggle if they were in Elite #1 this season.

#10 Sydney Sharks (4-4 in Elite #1)
Results for Games 5-8: lost to All-American 66-0, lost to Palm Bay 45-17 and 26-6
Other important results: beat Paris 27-20, beat Adriatic 30-3, lost to Hawaii 77-10, lost to HighRollers 27-17
With huge losses to Hawaii, Palm Bay and All-American and an embarrasing 10-point upset loss to the HighRollers, it's clear Sydney doesn't belong anywhere near the top. But their wins over Paris and Adriatic in the tight Western Conference have kept open Sydney's window to climb the standings.

#11 Jersey HighRollers (5-3 in Elite #1)
Results for Games 5-8: beat Adriatic 13-7, lost to ECE 34-3
Other important results: lost to Hawaii 70-3, lost to Paris 24-3, beat Sydney 27-17
Jersey's upset of Sydney was mostly likely a bit of a fluke, as evidenced by their big losses to Hawaii, ECE, and Paris, plus their closer-than-needed win over Adriatic. The HighRollers have simply never looked strong in any league they've played in so far, and both their O and their D are prone to embarrassing lapses in performance.

#12 Paris Smexies (5-3 in Elite #1)
Results for Games 5-8: lost to Hawaii 52-3, beat ECE 13-0, beat Montlake 23-10
Other important results: beat HighRollers 24-3, lost to Adriatic 10-7, lost to Sydney 27-20
Paris has been all over the place so far this season, losing big time to Hawaii and dropping close ones to Sydney and Adriatic, but also notching upset wins over Montlake, ECE, and the Jersey HighRollers. They're currently in 2nd place in their conference, but their inconsistent play will make it hard for them to hold that spot in the standings.

#13 Adriatic Sea Wasps (3-5 in Elite #1)
Results for Games 5-8: lost to HighRollers 13-7, lost to Montlake 6-3, lost to All-American 31-0, beat Mets 17-10
Other important results: beat Paris 10-7, lost to Sydney 30-3, lost to Hawaii 41-0

You're way to concerned about farm teams, which is what Adriatic is...All of our coordinators are busy up in WL. I'm sure if we make playoffs, there will be some effort. Until then, nothings changing.

#14 Jersey Mets (6-2 in League #2)
Results for Games 5-8: lost to New Orleans 16-3, beat 4th Street 52-0, lost to Adriatic 17-10
Other important results: lost to Hood Rich 50-41
The Mets crushed 4th Street, but they've lost every other game against human-run teams and have shown no signs of turning things around.

#15 The 4th Street Gang (5-3 in League #2)
Results for Games 5-8: lost to Monmouth 25-0, lost to New Orleans 45-0, lost to Jersey 52-0
Other important results: no other significant games
4th Street has lost badly to any and all legit human-owned teams they've faced so far this season, and they've shown no signs of being able to improve on that performance.

SEMI-COMPETITIVE TEAMS
Teams with under-leveled or mostly-CPU rosters that are still good enough to be better than the Non-Competitive Teams:

Plainview Bulldogs
One-owner non-boosting team with a full roster.

Westbank Generals (CPU)
CPU-owned team with a higher-than-normal amount of human dots on the roster.

Marlborough Mountaineers
Fully-human roster, but with mostly Prep-aged dots.

NON-COMPETITIVE TEAMS
Teams that are either CPU-owned, or human-owned with mostly-CPU rosters:

Ubu Jary
Slim Jimbos
Voodoo Daddies
College Station Aggies
LA Rams
Carthage Clash
Ridgeville Reapers

Smexies = chaos (wouldn't have it any other way) but we always get our act together for the playoffs.

I'd say good game, Adriatic, but they don't pay attention until the playoffs and probably won't ever see this, so...
