I definitely want strength as a primary. I dont need my DE to be a speed burner but he cant be super slow and he needs to bat passes.

Actually, you want speed more than agility. Consider that there are two ways to get to the QB. #1 is to out-agile your opponent and go around him faster than he can adjust. #2 (your idea) is to overpower your opponent and then rush to the QB as fast as possible. Too slow and a blocker with good agility &/or balance can just pop right up and resume the block before you can get past. Not only speed but a good SA would be First Step as well. What you're wanting is to either (rev)cake or push aside your blocker and make a beeline to the QB afap. You don't need 100+ speed... but 80 would be the very lowest I would go with this style of build and 90 would be much better. I know this, when building power rush DT's, I always try to hit 90 speed if at all possible. I would think it's even more important for an edge rusher.

IMO... A 240 pound Speed/Agility DE should be built as a LB. That allows for a defensive coordinator to use special plays with the LB1 slots on the depth chart.

Like instead of doing a 4-1-6 dime, they can do a 3-2-6 dime and shift an LB to one side, set to shallow, and use that slot... like Von Miller as an LOLB1 with a strong side shift and run right around the around bigger slower ROT.

I love what a power DT does built in the HHLB arch

Need to watch the speed though a little bit more than you would for a DT. Oh, and nat SA's as well.

yeah, kind of funny how LBs are better at other positions than they are their own

i used to set up my team's defense a lot like that in the first couple seasons, then went away from it.
just went back to that strategy in our game today and it seemed to work wonders for our rushing defense.
think i'm going to roll with this tactic and see how it goes
