I think out of the past 4 seasons 1 of them actually sent out the contracts like it was supposed to after they had to fix it. And it's gone back to this

Good owners are the key. KP falls into that category. If anyone can't get CPU offers, I'd recommend signing there. The coordinating ability is approximately the same as a CPU team Ai anyway

Sometimes it's a combination of the two. Sometimes the owners are just asleep at the wheel. It's for a number of reasons, but I've largely given up on player run teams.

*Edit: there are also owner run teams who have their own players on them (which makes sense) but I've had them value their own players, even questionable ones, over players who were superior build wise. I don't blame them per say but at the same time it leads me to believe I'd have more of a fair shot with my players and have more (potential) fun when that bias or lack of skill was out of the equation.

Pretty much. A lot of owners and GM's show preference to their own players. I usually end up signing with a human team, but often regret it simply because the owner will not honor the simple terms of the agreement or they do not give all players a fair shot at a starting spot.

The issue is even more common in the lower leagues, but in general, I think agents not in the good ole boys club get tired of being taken advantage of.

While I would agree that owners shouldn't break promises, I think agents need to understand that there are some promises from team owners that just shouldn't be believed at all, on their face.

"You're the guaranteed starter!" - That's just dumb team ownership right there. If a team owner has two dots at the same position, and one dot is the promised starter, but the backup dot out-performs the starter all season long, the owner is now backed into a corner: keep their promise to one player at the expense of the rest of the team losing more games, or break their promise to that one player to help the rest of the team win more games. Either way, the team owner is doing something wrong. So, team owners need to avoid making that promise in the first place. And agents need to understand what a colossally bad idea it is to make that demand, because it's a promise that is most likely going to be broken.

"You won't be used on Special Teams!" - Sorry, there's only 55 dots on a GLB team. If you're on a GLB team, the odds are pretty good that you'll need to play on Special Teams at some point. Deal with it. Good team owners will at least try to spread that out so that everyone shares in the burden, but excluding more and more players from STs will put more of the burden on the remaining players, which in turn can make the team start dropping games. So that's another promise that team owners probably shouldn't make in the first place, and it's something agents need to be a little more realistic about.

The only promise I make is that the best dots will play more, and I stick to it, even if it means demoting my own dot (which I did last season on my own team) or demoting my friend's dot (which I also did last season on my own team). But if an agent demands more and doesn't understand why I won't promise it to them, that's probably not an agent I want on my team. And they'll probably go find some other team owner who is either stupid enough or dishonest enough to promise whatever the agent wants, and then later the owner will break the promise they never should've made and that the agent never should've believed. And I'll watch from afar and shake my head.

Team owners need to not make stupid promises, and agents need to not believe stupid promises. There's two sides to this equation, and the agents themselves are part of it, even if they don't want to accept it.

Yeah, I'm talking about owners and GM's who will not put their own guys on special teams or back-up roles under any circumstances. Its all well and good to play the "teamwork" card, but owners and GM's should try leading by example.

Just so I do not sound like a hypocrite, I owned a GLB team for a period of time. I had a simple rule that none of my players would start over a human owned player unless we came to rare agreement with a unique player. I don't even expect this as an agent. Just be fair, let the best man win the job, and don't make agreements you have no intention of keeping.

As far as special teams, sometimes I like building niche players. Sometimes those players either have no business playing special teams, or they should almost exclusively play special teams. When an owner makes you believe he understands that, signs you, and goes ahead does whatever he wants in order to suit his good ole boy network, he is ruining it for everyone else.

Again, I'm mostly talking about lower leagues (but not always), thus the desire for CPU offers. I'll probably end up signing with a human team anyway.
