Hey all, I'm just getting back into the game and trying to learn how to do this all over again. It's been 10 years, haha. Anyway, what are the most successful teams in GLB these days? I found a casual league team with a 50 game winning streak which seems to exclusively run the ball on offense. Apparently they hardly ever pass.

So, this might give credence to an all-run, scrambling QB offense. But then, looking at the higher tier leagues, almost all the QBs are exclusively deep passers, and the offenses employ a varied mix of run and pass. What type of offense is considered to be championship-caliber?

On defense, is it better to defend against the pass? Or better to defend against the run? At least with regards to casual? I need some tactical help! Ha.

In casual, there's no way to design or call defensive plays. The only way to beat a good purpose built all running team, is with a purpose built all run defense. The trick is, that team would lose to any team that passed the ball.

So an all run team is basically easy mode in casual.

Real leagues can have defenses, so by the time those teams grow up, a lot of teams have figured out how to stop all run teams, so they've gone the way of the Dodo.

Why would you come back? Just to throw your money away on a game that no one monitors or helps people out? Dumb.

LOL "real leagues" in a simulated game.

They can be stopped at plateau in Casual Pro without having a team dedicated to an all run defense. Will you do it with 6 INT CB's and 4 zone safeties? No, but you can certainly build a top level casual roster capable of stopping this exploit at the highest level of Casual without sacrificing too much against a pass heavy team.

Now the lower levels of Casual, a much tougher task. In order to build for end game, you can't worry about stopping the all rushing teams coming up the age groups. The order of building for an all rushing team far favors their younger years. You will often see 50+ game win streaks in the younger leagues of Casual.

Funny. I've owned two different CasPro Gold teams. Neither was an all-running team, nor was it over-built to stop all running teams.

i have to admit, for me personally some of the best "real league" dots are those dots built for casual

But you didn't have 6 INT CB's and 4 zone safeties did you?

I've been on both ends of the spectrum and I agree with Sunder...it's not easy.

Maybe you misunderstood what I was saying or I wasn't clear. I was agreeing with sunder. My post was in response to TJ saying that you need a purpose built all run D to beat a good all run O.

So what I'm getting out of this is that all-run offenses are only successful at lower levels?

There is an all run team in WL right now.

But are they winning? It's one thing to be there, it's another to dominate

They are 2-1 right now in WL...IMO and maybe people will agree or disagree, but they will win games. Will an all rushing team ever win a WL trophy? Highly unlikely. You'd have a better chance in casual.

They have ONE major advantage in that they're much easier to build and run and a secondary advantage in that they are hard (hard but NOT IMPOSSIBLE) to stop since they're predicated on the fact that MOST teams are balanced attacks (meaning they pass AND run well)... therefore most defenses are designed to stop most teams and not the abnormality. However, with the right DC calling the shots... and having capable dots on defense... they can be beaten regularly because they cannot easily catch up if too far behind and time getting short because they cannot pass the ball for crap.
