Can you tell me why my lvl 40 backs keep running to contact on outside runs? I mean even when there is tons of space they keep cutting it back inside to contact. Got my sliders set the right way but it happens almost every time. Is it a vision issue even though vision is in the 60's? Did Bort make some sort of sim adjustment? Completely annoying.

Whatever it is, it certainly isn't because of the bolded

Legitimate question, sim gets adjusted all the time.

So any ideas as to why this happens?

a lot of times, i think its cuz someone has an angle to get around the blocker to the outside-
although it doesn't always look like it, had he run to the outside he would have been chased down with the angle
before he got much or anything at all. Sometimes maybe he could have got more to the outside, but the runner didn't
think he would have- as to whether more vision makes him better at reading that, i would assume so,
though i have no proof or evidence on the matter

I agree with that defender angle idea. Higher vision will help, how high is more than needed is a question mark. Just had alot of WTF moments on those outside runs. Thought it might be one of those dot progression things like when there are seasons when none of our QBs can hit the broadside of a barn with a bag of rice.

The dot isn’t 100% what’s happening in the sim. It’s just a visual to help give us an idea of what’s happening. You may see 2 yards between you and the other dot but they may be right beside each other

Can I ask what the dots' agility and ability to 'turn without losing speed' is? While vision (or lack thereof) might explain a little of it, I'm willing to bet that Darncat is pretty close. There's a conflict between the dot 'attempting to avoid a tackle or inferred possibility thereof' and the dot's ability to find the 'open space' you speak of. I've seen it with returners a lot (non plateau returners). They'll see an 'opening' and hit it but then, feeling like they still have to avoid the defenders nearby, they keep going to the outside edge of the field. Sometimes that's the best... sometimes it's not.

that's what sometimes confuses me about vision-
i sometimes wonder if what the dot 'thinks' is the best decision actually is
but for the most part, i accept that the dot knew what it was doing.
I've felt the same way often, like- "why didn't he keep running outside"?
Then i will notice the CB was outside of the WR blocking him, and even though it looked like room,
i've seen enough times where it looked like room and then the DB cuts off the angle and its nothing at all.
That is why i trust that they 'know' what they're doing, and that more vision makes it better, though i have no proof
