We are in Blizzard Warning for Saturday, 11-15" of snow with 45 mph winds. If it plays out that way, it will be our 4th 6"+ snow event in April. It makes for shitty calving weather.

5 years ago, I was planting corn on April 11th. This year, have to deal with all the snow and moisture, 40" of frost in the ground, need some heat and sunshine and a warm T-Storm and we still won't get corn in the ground until May.

Yeah. Most decent farmers try to time their calving to April which usually guarantees plenty of food for the nursing mothers (unless working a totally bottle feeding operation as some Dairies do) and the calves as well as not having the calves die from exposure. This prolonged winter for the northern midwest is gonna smack a lotta farmers upside the head.

Similar story here. Friend's wife and kids trip got delayed a day because the plane could not leave MN.

Crazy, 30 days ago we were dealing with a foot of snow and freezing temps and now 100 degrees.

Hard on the cattle, still have their winter coats and hard on the people taking care of them. In a perfect world, there would be a smoother transition to allow every living beast to acclimate to a change in season.

Its as if there was a natural cycle and it has been disrupted by some unknown force in recent times. Interesting.
