Unreal, then you have the never ending off season and stupid long preseason. Wonder why people quit playing....

It's not 86 hours to play the game, it's 86 hours until it's played DUE to the lack of teams. If it was 16 team conferences like it was a long time ago, it would be 2 days. But now it's 6 teams per conference, so if they did the 2 day thing, the season would be over day 38 instead of day 40 with 2 days of nothing.
the off season has been 8 days for I can't even remember how long. You think this is bad, it was a lot longer in the early seasons.

People stopped playing because Bort and co stopped caring about making improvements to the game, not due to the length of the offseason/preseason. I'm sure it had a minor effect, but not a major one, except for maybe you.
If they shorten the offseason, imagine how many people would cry because it's not easy to fill a new team in 8 days much less a shorter amount of time.
