Hey guys

Im kind of a newbie in OC, so i got some questions

I got 5 WR in my team, but only 2 of them are good to block for rushes outside.
I would like to know how i can put all the times that im rushing outside, those two guys up?
is that even possible ?

Thanks

You've got a regular rookie team, so I'll assume that's what your talking about.

In the depth chart, what you do is use the WR1, 2, 3, 4, 5 slots instead of stacking everyone in the WR slot

WR1 is the weak side, but also is the only WR on the field in the Big i formation... which is great from running.

WR2 is the strong side, so that slot can complement a blocking TE, but again not in on the Big i and a blocking TE can telegraph your running plans, if you don't mix up your play calling.

WR3 is the weak side slot receiver, and can be a good place to put a blocker, but they see the field much less often.

WR4 is the strong side slot, but sees the field even less.

Basically, what you do is, pick a side and put both your blockers in the same slot, and then call run plays in that direction. You take that slot out of pass progressions, so the QB won't throw that way either.

2 choices...

2 blocking WR = put both in WR1 (left) or WR2 (right) slot and run the majority of outside plays that direction. Works best out of 1 or 2 WR sets but not 3,4,5 WR sets.

3 Blocking WR = put both in WR1 AND WR2 slot with the 3rd WR the #2 on the depth chart for both slots and you can run outside plays either direction. Works well with all sets but limits the passing game to the WR3, WR4, and WR5 slots.

but if i put only blockers WR at WR1 and WR2, i wont make passing plays in formations with only 2 WRs

my offensive would be easy to read on scouts

No matter how you spin it this is going to be true.

If you DON'T assign your blockers to one slot and allow them to be placed randomly you will instead be throwing passes to receivers not designed to catch the ball and running plays that rely on WR blocks with receivers not designed to block...

So essentially the ONLY real way to use a blocking WR or a pair in your case, is as described...

Assigning them to one slot and having that slot change from game to game can be your only real measure to negate scouting, even then it only requires the person scouting you to scout at some point AFTER you make the depth chart change.

Then adjust your QB checkdowns in your packages to not throw to them.

Either way if you use them just strictly for blocking on run plays, your offense will still be easy to scout lol.
