Ok, I bought a CPU team mid season, the team was performing decently in the league, good blocking, good coverage, and now that I own the team it looks like all the CPU players have gone blind. Why do CPU players perform extremely poorly with a human owner, but extremely well with a CPU owner. Seems it shouldn't matter if the team is human owned or not, at least the performance of the CPU players should remain the same, but obviously they don't. Just curious why the CPU players are set to perform so poorly on a human owned team. I will update after todays game, I have undone all the changes I made to tactics, just curious if team performance changes any. I'm pretty sure it will be another 100+ points to 0-14 point performance.

There is a penalty to a human owned team once they have so many CPU players.

You need a minimum amount of human players.

Not sure on the number.

IIRC, a human owner has there cpu players downgraded for every 5th cpu. whenever i put together scrub teams, there was a pretty big dropoff after hitting the 10th cpu, so i try to always limit it to 9 or fewer. it was done back in the days when there were more human players than teams, so it gave owners a reason to sign humans over cpu. there used to also be an uproar any time that cpu filled teams beat a human filled team.

with the huge lack of players these days, it would be nice if this was revisited, but alas, glb makes no more changes

100% this. As long as the team is CPU owned, then there is no penalty for having any CPU dots on the team. However, once a HUMAN owns a team, then penalties for having CPU dots on the team, then applies. Guppy covers the rest but this answers your question.

Thanks, just makes buying a team to test ideas pointless. When the CPU dots run around the field senselessly it's hard to actually see if your plays are working or not. And I definitely won't be renewing ownership due to the lack of human players available, so no point in buying more flex. Vicious cycle that will sooner than later be the end of GLB, Thanks again for the info, now to consider permanent retirement now or after next season.

yep, the game has pretty much degraded down to wl only. the pro leagues are just as bad as the lower leagues now with the lack of players coming up thru the ranks.

Would be nice if they would be willing to at least make a few tweaks. Changing the penalty for having CPU players seems like it would be pretty easy, especially if the penalty increases based on the number of CPU players. But I also understand the business side of it.

the business side makes more sense to cut back on the cpu penalty now. how many people are leaving because almost none of the leagues are even close to competitive now past the top 2-3 teams?

Changelog: Dec 19, 2011
- Human owned teams with more than 10 CPUs now have a penalty to CPU player strength for each CPU over 10 (up to 25% penalty)

Pretty sure it was 5% for each CPU player over 10, so at 15+ CPUs they're all operating at -25% across the board.

Dropping it entirely would make a lot of sense at this point. Cut down the 500-0 games in RegPro, and if it means as a side effect someone wins a lolGold in a dead league with CPU dots - more power to them IMO. My recollection was the penalty came in after a few people went around buying up CPU squads that had made the playoffs and scooping up pointless dead league trophy gifs.

Well it made it worth it for me to sign some human players that otherwise may not have been offered a spot. My problem now is that my stadium was reset and I am heading into the Regional Pro next season and don't have many stadium upgrades complete. I got down to only about 10 players and even though they stuck me in an Elite league with teams I still can't compete with, next season I will request a lower tier Regional Pro and hopefully be able to actually evaluate some plays.

Would be nice if there were still some enhancements being done to the game, hate to see it die from neglect, but understand the business side of it.

Thanks for the help in understanding what I was dealing with, good luck to you all!

Or completely reset down to rookie and build from the bottom up. May have an easier time filling a team that way, compared to trying to fill a team with higher leveled players that may hesitate to to sign with a team in the higher tiers with CPU players.

there just arent many high level players any more. just look at the number of cpu filled teams @ the pro level. it's a shame that they let things get this bad. i saw quite a few more long term agents bolt this season.
