I haven't played this game for over a half a decade and am thinking about trying this out again.

If I start a bunch of new players today, do I get a benefit in boosting the players now? Or does waiting until the end of the season to boost have benefits?

what are you wanting the out come for the season to be? Most who made new dots this season did a boost to 4 before rollover so they have 3 boost to do this season. You will be 3 boost behind most dots. Peewee might be an option for you

You can make up boosts on the back end to still hit 79. I always boost end of season because I'm lazy and you get to train at slightly lower values.

Both the above statements are true so I would consider what you are wanting for your dots.

Playing for someone else's team? Most owners want all their dots p'much the same in the boosting which means, as Wise posted, you'll be behind for the life of your dot until the end when you can catch up. If that's fine with you, then boosting at the end of the season is the usual way.

Playing for your own team or CPU or D'leagues? Kinda doesn't matter then. You can keep going ro do a season and recycle at the end. Whatever.

Is there such a thing as slow-building still? If so, what's the best approach?

Technically yes. But it's the only way to get decent dots, so most everyone does it, so not really.

You just train your target attribute until you have enough SPs to cap it. Don't sit on more than 25 SPs or else your training gains will be over whelmed by ALG losses.

When starting an attribute, shoot for 28-33 with training (15-20 SPs to cap).

What's the best way to train? For example, with a QB, should I be multi training Throwing (Prime) and Vision (Sec) each day? Or just pumping everything into Throwing until it reaches 33, then dumping my SPs?

Also, is there a specific time to boost? (Day 39/40??)

Yes, every dot is slow built, it takes over a year to have a dot built to plateau.

If I boost my QB today, it would allow me to get to the 3rd soft cap (4:1) -- should I boost 3x now to get to level 7 and collect those ALGs on a better soft cap range? Or is there a reason/advantage to not boost until the end of season? (It's been so long, I can barely remember what to do...lol)

Season 1 is wait until at least playoffs start when you stop getting XP for the season if not until the last day of the season to maximize training.

Absolutely correct! Some teams boost at the start of the playoffs during their rookie season..... although some still don't depending on their build strategies.

I'm gonna slightly disagree with Farlig and Kurt in that I wouldn't boost ALL 3 boosts to hit the next cap but rather push the training until I can boost ONE time (Adding it to whatever SP's I have in the bank) and hit the next cap. You don't wanna train through caps... but you don't wanna waste your boosts either. Go check the Caps guide and plan your training to stop when you have enough SP's to hit next cap with either the SP's you're getting through level-up's or with using only ONE boost at the most.
More often than not, (the SP's you get with) your Level-up's will get you to your next cap just fine without boosts. But if you're training a skill, and it's almost ready to roll over, and you're short just a few SP's to cap it... then it's perfectly fine (usually) to boost ONCE so you can cap the skill BEFORE it rolls over again, thereby getting the most out of your training.

XP changes and lower optimal training gains should also be taken into consideration when boosting/capping. Eg, waiting until you hit lvl 53 for example.

If you haven't boosted to 4, then XP changes won't affect your player in the first season. That means you can boost when ever you like, though you should time it with hitting a cap.

XP doesn't matter until timing final boosts for leftover XP
