Just took a quick look, and seems to me there are ~20 decent regular teams + 6-8 casuals.
GLB isn't completely dead yet, but back in the days that would equal one mediocre league of 32 teams.

How many rookie leagues we used to have...?

Most games don't have the legacy effect of WoW or LoL. Maybe the secret is having a palindrome acronym.

I'm surprised that the core userbase is still as strong as it is after almost 9 years. It's been 3 years since there was a change to the sim, and over a year since any change whatsoever. I don't think people have an appreciation of how unusual that is for a niche browser game.

There will always be competetive rookie teams. Its Pro where you see a decline. Sure we have plenty of pro teams that want to be competetive. But if you're not apart of an established community, then go ahead and fuck off cause you have no chance. You might get lucky. Go ahead and look at the Soul Reavers. They made WL and got embarrased. Not because they didn't try, but becasue they didn't have the right people to make it and stay up there.
