I'm fuzzy on this since I haven't put too much in confidence in recent years. And I'm sure this has been explained countless times, but what is the relationship between Slow Starter and OTK. For example, if a player has both and meets the first quarter requirements for Slow Starter, what would the bonus be when OTK kicks in?

Not sure if it's multiplicative or additive, but it would be fairly close regardless (+11% vs +11.3%).

15 OTK + 1 SS: +6% for the 4thQ, +11% for < 5 mins in the 4th and OT.
1 OTK + 15 SS: +6% from < 7:30 in 3rdQ, +11% for the last 20 sec of 4th and OT.
1 OTK + 1 SS: +6% from < 0:30 in 3rdQ, +11% for the last 20 sec of 4th and OT.

Big bonus for 5 minutes, assuming the score is within 7 ... or a solid bonus for 22.5 minutes. As part of a team concept on pass game weapons, with a run heavy start in the 1stQ, I've seen the second one work pretty well. Haven't been part of a team that tried the first one, seems like too many VA points to give up for a 5 minute window, might only be one possession. And a lot of teams will simply use the third option and purchase more VAs that are active throughout the game.

I'm mainly just thinking about putting one in each. I don't want to invest too much into a small window. But I was thinking it could be a way to get a huge advantage in OT, within the right scheme and planning of course.

Assuming you have 40 confidence, 1 OTK is the single most valuable VP you can spend on any player.

The prevailing wisdom is that it is sexy, potentially very so.

80 or so should do it.

IMO, even investing heavily in it doesn't prevent morale issues. Just do 40 for OTK, 1-cap at most, for everyone except P/K/QB

All players need 40, at a minimum.

K, P, QB need 80+

Other positions benefit from having 48-60 confidence.

And then as a result of that study, the Confidence effect was increased, and none of that data was ever released

I think confidences biggest contribution, at least one we can see, is what happens to dots when they are losing. Bort always talked about a check dots make before they can accomplish a given "thing", but without being able to look at the code, no way for us to actually know the value of confidence.
