I'd like to know how my OT stacks up against the best in effective levels.

Effective Level is figured out like this:

When you look at the player page, you'll see a little red number under the levels. That number is the total SPs you have earned from leveling up, boosting, etc PLUS the number of points that have been added to your attributes through training. It gets a little tricky because the SPs you get from leveling might take a bunch of them to raise an attribute one point, but each one still counts as a full point on your total score. Conversely, it might take a bunch of training sessions to gain 1 attribute point which only adds one point to that total.

So in general, the effective level is basically a measure of how efficient a player is in maximizing the cap building and training techniques - but make note of the fact that I said "in general". In theory, if I have a player who is falling behind, I could beef up my training bonuses on say "kicking" (useless for a WR) and then train that 4 or 5 times and end up with 6-7 more points in my total, thus making his effective level look higher. If I was training an important skill that is already trained and I'm trying to make it better, that 4 or 5 training might only add 1 (or even none) more point to the total - but it's a much more valuable point to the player's ability

In lower levels, too - you can spread your points around to all the various stats, but never work on capping any - and so the first few seasons, you have a killer effective level, but as you keep going up and useful points are harder and harder to come by, he'll slowly start to fall behind the curve a bit.

So - while it's a "general" guideline and can give you an "idea" at a glance, you really need to look at the guy and make sure the points are in the right spots for the job you want him to do. It is a measure of "how many points the guy has compared to others his level" but it is not at all a measure of how well those points were applied to the right stats. The higher you get in age and levels, the more accurate a guide it is.

unless it is a ST C, your EL should NEVER be below your actual level

you CAN have a high EL and still be bad, but you can't have a low EL and be the best dot he could have been

Rushing QB will have a pretty low ratio too but effective level should still be higher

Also some of the 'specialty' builds you can find out there (like a Tackle that can catch passes when playing TE... or a WR that can only block [no catching ability at all... which is why some peeps use ST WR's for that]... ect, ect, ect.)

I'm really pleased that non-standard builds like that still have a place in this game.

An OT that can catch passes is extremely rare and I don't know that I've ever seen one used successfully, but should still be at the very least 79/83. ST WR is easy to get 79/84.

I believe he is wanting to know if there is an easy way to compare the EL's of his current 234 day old vs other OT's the same age.

I don't know of an easy way. If you use the basic search for active players by position and age to a specific day, it will limit the results, and then you just have to manually go through each dot on the search to check their EL's. There are 3 pages of OT's at 234 days old. Not going to go through all of them, but just on page 1, there were 7 with higher EL than the OP's OT. 3 of them were over 1200.

Now the OP seems to have skipped boosts at some point, but should be able to make them up at end build. There are only 6 OT's the same age and level (66). 2 of those 6 have a higher EL than the OP's with an EL of 1191.

At the end of the day there is some LOL in EL for O-lineman. Overdoing vision is an easy way to get a higher EL for an o-lineman, but it doesn't really help the build other than bragging about EL. As long as you are an 84 EL at plateau and have proper AEQ, you should be well above serviceable.

Early on I built one that 'worked'. That is to say it was slow, fat, could block better than ok, and could catch the occasional short pass (catching ended at 60 if I remember right). Fun? Yes. Stupid? Probably. Saved it? Hell no!
