Or it's just fluff and flair in the SA description text, and one of the possible side effects of reduced morale. This is GLB after all.

I... hate to but I disagree here. I once was a constant 'pooh-pooher' of anything SA or VA that didn't 'show itself' when it fired. Like you I felt some stuff was more fluff than real. But I've worked with enough people, many WL dot builders and coaches, that really want Aura and other moral SA and VA's on almost ALL their dots. And I respect them enough to no longer question if it works or not. Just because I can't see it fire, I don't doubt it works. Now... HOW it works... I'm with Dave there.

I didn't say that Aura doesn't work. It definitely works, no doubt about it. But that being said, I don't think it's worth it for a HB. There are better SA's.

But I don't believe it does anything else but drain morale. I believe it's the lowered morale alone that is "making it easier to tackle or avoid them". That is the actual mechanism of Aura, what Dave MrMajors was wondering about.

Not for ALL HBs Pena, only pHBs... that is what we are talking about.
pHBs already have LTS and PT in their native tree

LTS is p much worthless when you have PT. Like others have said, Hurdle is is the obvious extra SA.

Maybe Surge is ok, but not instead of Hurdle. And instead of going with two extra SA's, I'd rather use those resouces to get either Juke or Spin, both of which are umpteen times better than Surge.

There are too many, too good SA's for pHB's, Aura is not one of them. There are a limited amount of resouces to build a good pHB (or any dot). Using those resources to have Aura would make your build worse at something way more valuable.

Not true, on both counts.
But you can believe what you want

I'm still not sold on choosing Aura for the bonus SA. How effective do people find hurdle.

I love hurdle. Get jumping to 60 imo and just let hurdle do the work.

I also like spin though so what the fuck do I know

BT%, Quick Feet and Hurdle really pay off whether its a heavy straight ahead power rQB, pHB or a pFB.
Best 3d/4th down pHB I ever built had so so vision but jumping and hurdling instead.

Here's an MVP power rQB that was very successful too, but built a bit more for outside rushes.

Hurdle does not 'have' to fire, it is a passive break tackle bonus vs diving tackles. It can fire on it's own yes but it is also active 100% of the time even when the play by play does not show it.

I would guess that those PHB's were on teams that only used them in short yardage or goalline situations. Some teams use them (PHB's) as feature backs but not every team. Some simply use them old school style and so those wouldn't need a lot of Stamina because they don't get in on nearly as many plays.

That's right. That pHB got 100% of the 4th and 1's. Split the 4th and 2's with the rQB about 75/25%. And the 3d and 0-4's maybe 25%. Then of course the Goal Lines. Simply put a Jerome Bettis. Maybe 10-12 plays per game.

The rQB got a lot more plays to force the defense to account for the outside rush but still only actually rushed about 6-8 times per game.

But you can have all the custom speciality players you want, its the offensive and defensive lines that are the most critical component of any good team.
