So I sign two players from a manager and then a couple of days later he's claiming he can't afford them and asks for them both to be cut. Sounded like an odd request so I asked him why. I'm told his credit card is max.

So I go ahead and cut his players per his request but I had a suspicion that something still didn't sound right. We say 'trust, but verify' around the office here so I figured I'd look in later. I check on the players in question, one was retired and the other was signed to another team. All of this from a guy who first messaged me about the player in question and signing.

I sent a PM with this "I wished you were just up front with me about what you wanted instead of making this something it wasn't. I had a feeling I was going to see at least one of your players signed to another team."

The replies I got made me laugh, accusing me of stalking him, claiming I had crappy builds, and calling me a loser before blocking me from private messages. Which of course none of which was relevant.

I've only recently returned to the game which is why I ask. But does this sort of shady thing happen often in the game these days? I hope not

Its the kind of thing that happens anywhere *people* gather. Its not right, but it is what it is.

I was part of a team a few seasons back where a shitty agent simply failed to boost EIGHT of his dots. He had always boosted before, the team was competitive and had promoted to Pro, and he had several dozen younger dots on lower level teams. His name was all over the internal team forum as he had been part of that organization since practically the beginning of the game. But he felt no compulsion at all to boost this final round when his teammates needed his help the most. If money were an issue, he had a couple of dozen younger dots--he could have retired a couple of them. Or he could have retired 2 of the 8, and then the team would have had only 2 holes to fill. Instead, the roster was poisoned--sitting in a competitive Pro League with 8 subpar dots. I messaged the agent a couple of times, but he was a selfish prick and had no remorse for what he was doing to the team.

Sometimes people just suck.

There was an old rule prolly does not apply now. Max of 5 players on any one team from a given agent .
20 players say ave 600 FP each season ,each player is about 7-10k on its year of life
70-100$ a season.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Definitely gives me food for thought should I run into these sort of antics from a manager again

I don't even get this? You are basically saying you stalked him after you cut him.

Surely the ability to change your mind is still a thing right? Freedom and all that...

My guess is the guy builds garbage and you are better off without him. It just so happens you caught the Cancer early and got rid of him, rather unconventionally.
Best of luck as there are still a lot of good agents out there

King: thank you. Maybe it was just bad luck or something I don't know. I'm not really worried about his skill making dots, I'm in this to have fun. So if I end up with a bunch of mid range players who just enjoy playing the game I'd take that over highly skilled players with poor interpersonal skills and honesty issues any day.

My first reaction would be: If your credit card is maxed, this game is the last place where you should be spending money.

100% this. Seriously. It's a fun game but it is COSTLY to play even IF you have free players to work with. Most teams will ask you to purchase CEQ... which costs flex... for your dot(s). (it's not free for ANY dot.) If you don't want to purchase CEQ it limits your dot in such a way that it's unlikely you'll find it starting and might even find it relegated to ST's only. (Dotball is kinda serious for some peeps here.) I've already spent far too much on this game as it is (damn my addiction) and am in a rehab program to help me kick the habit. So, ye have been properly warned. Hope you can get some moo-la for your pocket lint because yer gonna need it.
