by awhile, I'm talking about I was an original, years and years and years ago I signed up(April 6th, 2008 to be exact) and I've had some great players in the game.
I don't know why I lost interest - probably many reasons - but I've decided to come back and relearn the game and start playing.

I've retired all the old players on my account, assuming their age has rendered them useless, and am starting fresh.

Is there anything that has changed from the beginning that I may need to know? Last i remember, there were specific ways to build a position to dominate the game. There were specific times to level up, boost, and spend skill points to maximize your players potential. Is this all still going on? If so, I need to touch up on it because I dont remember any of it

Yeah, just join up with a good team or two--they almost always have those build guides and tips posted in their team forums.

Try this build plan from JDbolick, it is pretty easy to follow and you don't have to put a lot of time into it.
There are other build plans out there is you look around, I sure someone else will pipe in with more info for you about the game.

Jdbollick build plan
Basic build plan for any .5 ALG dot
If going strength first then pick one pound below the maximum. If picking speed first then pick one pound above the minimum. Enhance the first attribute to 10%, train intense three times, enhance to 20%, then train intense until you have a nearly full bar at 32.9x without equipment on Day 48. Convert 15 bonus tokens to a skill point and cap to 48.9x. Then boost. Next season you'll enhance to 30% and normal train, then second cap, then continue normal training, then third cap. At that point you'll unlock and enhance your attributes for multi-training. Unlock the first, second, and third attributes you plan to cap and enhance all to 30% when possible. Use the free first slot to rotate any other attributes you plan to cap eventually, enhancing each to 10%. Continue multi-training until the first attribute reaches anywhere between 90 and 100 depending upon your build plan. Skill points should be spent in the first attribute until it reaches between 73 and 85 depending upon your build plan and how many attributes you eventually need to increase.

That's designed to get the first attribute up as quickly as possible to accumulate ALGs. You do the weight trick so that you're just under the .97 decimal for the third cap at level 7, otherwise you end up wasting two ALGs and there was no point in racing up that fast anyway. For 0.4 ALG dots I haven't figured out anything quite so simple, but in general you should probably pick max or min weight and then go to multi-training right after the second cap. 0.67 ALG dots don't need to worry about weight either and shouldn't unlock the first attribute but should push it really hard in the beginning.

Great help, thanks. What do they mean by enhance skills to 10%, 20, etc.

I'm beginning to wonder if the reason why i left was because of the amount of thought that needed to go into a player build to be successful...lol

It cost bonus tokens but you can enhance the attr's that you train. Each time you enhance an attr it costs by's but you get a 10% bump each time you enhance, the first time it costs 6 bt's, second time it costs 12 bt's 3rd time it costs 18 bt,s etc. Depending on how you build is how many time you enhance as in jd's plan you enhance each attr that you multi train 3 times each.
Once you understand the build process it really isn't that hard. Depends if you want a dot to be good at plateau or if you want imm satisfaction for your dot as you play.

I take it it is best to wait until day 0 to create a player

day 40 to day 48 is the best time to create, you should have a free player right now, create a dot and play around with it till day 40 to help you learn then retire that dot and start over it won't cost you anything as long as you don't buy custom eq
