This is NOT a veiled idea thread, or veiled suggestion thread, so please do not lock.

My question is, what would GLB have to lose if they for instance, only allowed people to create L79 dots (and those dots would cost say 900/600/300 per season each) with up to 5 or 10 seasons before decline. Anything besides the initial time cost of website implementation of a quick-player builder?

Flex purchases are dwindling, and no one at all watches the minors. Giving people the ability to instantly fill-out teams would ensure some dots are actually being made, and the ability to instantly create full usable dots would cause people to try out new and fun ideas.

No need to facepalm. I'm well aware there is a 0% chance of this happening, which is why I don't think the thread should be locked.

I like it too.

And I like it as a straight-up proposition--no penalty to the builds that come from that method, and instead a penalty in terms of cost. That way there's still "value" for those who take the long path to the build.

It'll probably change the game like the 24 second buzzer and the 3 point shot did for basketball in ways that aren't expected.

I'd be curious about how you would implement the player builder to get the insta-79-ers.

The issue would be the flex costs you set. WG surely doesn't want this game (GLB original) lasting longer than it must... but will not do anything overtly to cause it's death. On the flip side, it DAMN sure won't make it BETTER than GLB2 in cost so that people over there leave and come back here (thereby prolonging GLB original's life).
With the costs you set, this version (the original) would become significantly cheaper than GLB2 AND, bonus, you could make dots faster that GLB2 which is really the only thing GLB2 has going for it (mostly).
So you would need to have the dot build cost be much higher... like original cost (of a completed dot) plus extra flex for the 'instant' availability of said dot.

Having an initial cost of 900/600/300 for 4 seasons and then a maintenance cost of 300/200/100 for up to 4 additional seasons would be good for the game. Dots have to be disposably cheap in a game like this which relies on team strategy and coordinating.

Their money per dot would of course be less than it is now but they would have many more dots created. And the flood of dots created would improve the quality of competition, which in turn creates more interest level to try new team concepts and the like.

I think despite the high barrier of complexity this game has, the reduced time to see the results of your decisions would make it much more approachable and fun for a new player. But if nothing else it might bring back old players who just don't want to wait a year for the fun to start.

It requires changing code so what they would have to lose is their time...

Wouldn't take much time to just add a Delorean to the equipment page...
Then they could get their time back too.

And what would happen to the dot if they didn't paid said flex

Retire imo. And should autoretire after 8 seasons as well so we that there arent 1000s of old ridiculous dots laying around when people go inactive or leave the game.
