From GLB1.
Over a year ago I said "No new dots." And I had said it a number of times before, an honestly when I said it, I even didn't believe it. I assumed it'd be just like the last time, and someone would approach me with an interesting team idea, and I'd say "well, one more I guess." The process would continue and eventually I'd be staring at more players I didn't care about.
But No, this time was different. I stuck to it. I turned down PM's and private forum invites. I didn't rebuild with any teams, didn't join farm teams and I stuck to my goal. I watched my player list dwindle and dwindle down, I gazed, half-rapt by my open free player spot, no longer in use, I peered with nostalgia across team forums that I used to be a part of. And yet... I stayed the course. "No new dots." I knew what it meant. It meant one day I'd be staring at a blank and empty player page. I had hoped that one day it might mean I'd completely abdicate any and all GLB responsibilities. Unfortunately those responsibilities all shifted to GLB2, so today marks a goal only half complete.
As I stare at an empty GLB1 player page I now turn my commitment towards GLB2... "No new dots" I say . Next season will be the last season I create a new dot... ever again. And maybe... just maybe, some lofty day in the future I can gaze upon an empty GLB2 player page, and know that my work is done.
Just know that this is just as much a celebration as it is a mourning. I hope one day we can all celebrate our own No New Dots day.
