PLAYOFFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's that time of year as the 12 of us chugged through 16 weeks of fierce competition to get to the "real season." All in an effort to get that darn gold .gif. We have two teams that have won gold previous (HOOD and BM) and a few others who've been to the finals to only grab silver (DIABLOW and Full Perky). The field is a mixed bag as there are three teams that have not made the playoffs previously (Detroit, 'Zilla, and Rockwood). It should be an interesting march as we head into the New Year and see if HOOD can repeat or a new champion will emerge.
PLAYOFF OVERVIEW:
-Interesting both the East and West match ups with the West having just played each other in week 16 (so who was weed whacking as we already knew the match ups) and the East as the teams faced off both in week 14.
-We've got sweeps in the West and splits in the East.
-Overall, some solid match ups for round one action and there should be some very close games.
Full Perky Tets at DIABLOW CIRCLES:
The Circles won the regular season series and just played the Tets in week 16 winning 73-9.
Me thinks the ole Tets were just flapping in the wind in week 16 as we both knew a round one playoff game loomed. With 99% of my team taking another old age hit before we play the Tets we may be in a little trouble but we feel confident how the team is looking and think to be beat a team will have to play well for four quarters. The Tets can play well for four quarters but have struggled in putting it together the last two seasons. I've felt it only a matter of time but after stumbling down the stretch with a 1-6 mark Full Perky needs to get it right and quickly.
I have to "run" with my boys in this one old or not...31-20.
Detroit Rock City at Denmark Dragons:
The Dragons took home the regular season series and won the week 16 outing 23-14
The Dragons did win both games against Rock City but both were close (under 10 points) and were on the lower scoring side of things (20-14 and 23-14). It's obvious that Rock City will need to get more than 20 to get the win but I'm not sure they're up for the task against a stingy Dragons defense (Rock City only getting 216 yard a game in the series). When DRC's not moving the ball resulting in Denmark having control over the clock with a huge advantage in TOP. Detroit simply played flat in the first half scoring only seven points in the two games.
I had pegged Denmark as the team to beat in the East and nothing has changed for me...27-23.
Rockwood Rollers at Uh Oh! HOOD gone Casual:
The teams split the regular sesaon series with HOOD winning the week 14 game 20-14.
The Rollers got into the playoffs with a tie breaker over the Monkey Spankers and will look to push the defending champions. The games between these two were tight and low scoring (Roller at 20 ppg while HOOD was at 18). I've seen it too many times to judge the play of the regular season and that of the playoffs but looking at the games I expect a fight and whoever can get to 21 plus will win this one. The first game was all about passing and the second rushing so this one will be interesting how it breaks down.
I have to go with the defending champs setting the rookies straight...27-17.
Bier Markt at Hoodzilla .:
The teams split the regular season series with Zilla winning most recent week (14) in dominating fashion 38-21.
BM has been anything but a shell of their former selves this season so we look to the playoffs to shed the skin so to speak. Zilla doesn't really care about how sad Badger is about BM as they were pretty dominate in the week 14 game and were able to exploit some BM weaknesses by crushing them for 390 yards on the ground and winning the turnover battle 3-0. BM put up some yards with 460 (compared to 482) but only 12 of that came on the ground. Zilla did use a mini-helmet in the game and with the clock striking over 10 of the dots due to old age the pendelum could swing.
I have to go with my team and hope we pull head from ass...24-20.
