They should offer a 75% discount for all flex. I'm sure it would entice a lot of people to come back to GLB.

75% is unrealistic, but i might actually buy flex again if i could field at least an entire offense or defense.

I can't think of too many people who left because flex was too expensive, especially considering you get 70% of it back when you kill your dot. People left because the sim stopped being developed so the game has gotten repetitive and stale (which is ironic, of course, given how vocal the "Bort, stop screwing around with the sim!" crowd was).

I'm no coder/programmer, so I can't sit here and posit on how difficult of a program this was to do, but it would be really cool in my opinion if you could save a copy of this code somewhere, then make a couple of tweaks to something that causes, say passing to go up a bit (I know through experience some other stuff would be affected, too). Then save that, keep making a couple of tweaks for every iteration. Then you end up with a dozen or so variations of the GLB code and randomly activate one of them each season without telling anybody which one it is. Just tell the user base that that's what you're doing. I wonder how many people might stay (or possibly come back) if something like that was possible. I'd stick around indefinitely for that.

You mean a sim that wouldn't be so predictable that only certain dots are built in certain ways? To have ... variety?

Hell yes this would make things better. Not so much that you couldn't run or pass in a given season, but definitely worth trying.

I wouldn't mind seeing teams giving money to players for training and equipment again. I still think the 75% off for all flex is a good idea .

People left because any time a change was made that some people didn't like the mods would lock their threads and ban them. Let's be honest for a moment. Changes with the sim didn't excite the majority of the userbase. People getting mad and blowing up in the forums about sim changes was what we got excited about.

Well, consider that 'expensive' is always relative to 'value'. I am sure there's been a few that have let due to the cost of playing the game, but I'd also say that many of those left a long time ago. Of us that remain, the game had a LOT more value when it wasn't static like it is now. Yes... we complained everytime changes were made... griped about how we liked it better the way it was... but those changes also gave the game more value by keeping our interest and challenging our intellect. Since the game has left BETA it ceased to change much at all, if any. For sure nothing worthy of 'challenging our intellect'. Almost all of us now have 'plug-n-play' formulas for building dots and running teams that haven't changed any in a very long time. To the point where some people (like Skibo or Bane) have started doing crazy stuff just to break the monotony... like an entire team made up of punters... or all offensive linemen. When it gets like that, the VALUE of the game diminishes and so the EXPENSIVENESS grows. I no longer buy flex for that reason. There's nothing NEW to conquer. No changes coming. Therefore the game, for me, has become too expensive for I no longer get the value of the investment as I once did.
