beside that -- with all the extra time the admins would have not having to deal with silly forum requests and ban hammer dropping.....it might even turn into a full on growing game....

so come on gais. the water feels great and we need more people to beat up on.

GLB2 is SHIT.

Money isn't "pouring" into GLB1. That's the point.

I would agree there's a correlation, but it sounds like we have a difference of opinion about which came first. Either way, things are where they are.

well, first of all...

relative to what? a new release that dies off in a couple months? that's probably true.

how many other games out there are still making anything after 7+ years tho?

glb1 is a proven winner in the long term. is it really that hard to rationalize that an investment in this game will generate a return in the long run?

secondly...

that sentiment creates an impasse

Agents don't want to spend money because the game isn't being updated (and could be "killed")

WG doesn't want to update a game (and could "kill" it) if agents aren't spending money.

http://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=5233460&page=15#49074089

==

would it be possible to do some kind of trial run of any kind? Like WG does X, and if the userbase responds with "Y" then the game can get back on the front burner?

Just make it affordable/reasonable to maintain 10-20 dots

Agents will have more dots to be interested in, teams will have more dots to recruit, and if you lower your prices to reasonable 5, 10,15, 20 dollar a month package plans for an increased amount of dots , the money will start coming in again. Its not rocket science.

Right now in order to "buy in" and maximize your investment you and get the bulk discounts... you have to pay a rather large sum of money up front (for a browser game). This scares off newbie players (investors).

Think ticket sales.... if you raise the prices too high, there is decreased demand... lower the price too low and you sell out instantly... its about finding that happy medium ...

All you need is a minor restructuring of how you do a few things.

Ditch d leagues and save server space and make dots cheaper. Then we can build more and there's no need for new server costs.

I agree that it is remarkable that GLB1 has been around for as long as it has, but it takes a major leap to get from there to 'ditch the projects that are making you money and try to revive the old and busted project'.

The only way I can think of to answer this is to turn it around: Is it really that hard to understand that an investment in this game is unlikely to generate a return in the long run? I mean, clearly it is, since this is still a constant topic of discussion in this forum. And I'm sorry, I know you guys like the game(or, you used to like it) a lot, you prefer it over our other games, everyone has an idea for a magic GLB1 fix. No one wants to hear it. But we're done actively developing GLB1. We're still supporting it, it will still be around as-is for as long as you guys keep playing it, but we cannot keep developing it forever.

is there any chance WGG develops another football sim that is geared more toward the hardcore audience? GLB3?
