DD has been gracious enough to come to the forums from time to time--thanks for that.

Bort should do the same.

Not to tell us anything super-secret about future plans or what makes what SA fire.

But simply to demonstrate that this game still exists in his mind.

Baby steps. The customer base demonstrates in small steps that we'd like to hang around. In turn, ownership demonstrates in small steps that' they'd like the customer base to hang around.

Sounds fair, right?

Well, I mean, he is redoing the entire league structure. Hard to do that without knowing the game exists.

Also, does the creator of any other game post in their forums?

change league size from "32" to "12"

hit "randomly put all teams in a league" button (which he already has)

done

I imagine his programmer guy is changing 32 to 12 - not that tough

Yep, it really is just changing a number.

It totally doesn't require rewriting the scheduling script, playoff script, WL promotion scripts, or anything. It really is just changing a 3 to a 1.

Exactly, because professional game companies do not build code that can can change tournament, league, and ladder sizes based on input constants. It is so much more effective to build code for a specific size as there is no way your business model might be wrong or change, use of the site will be constant, and game as originally coded would never evolve. In addition, it is always acceptable for programmers to exercise "hand to the forehead" drama of how hard changes are to this "awesome" coding is to the user base because there is no way any real professional programmers are using this site.
