What is "niche" about wanting to play American-style football? The NFL is the #1 professional sport in this country, and college football is the king of college sports. How in the world did the powers that be convince themselves that what they had here was a "niche" rather than something potentially HUGE?

Browser-based games are a niche market. ("Sad but truuuuuue...")

You'd be right, Eucrid... if this browser based game was NOT based on American Style Football. People still buy Madden every year. It's not like they're a high quality product (I've gotten pretty bored at beating the crap out of every single release) but it's still fun to play. The ONLY thing that keeps this from being a LONG TERM operation is the lack of change from year to year in the game system (Season to season would be better but that's a LOT of work for both the coordinators and toe coders). Seriously. This game could last for many more years if just that much cares could be generated by WG. We LOVE Football. Period... end of discussion. For that reason have so many remained loyal to the game and have spent so much for as long as they have. This game will die from APATHY within WG... not from a lack of us players who would stay if we had a solid reason to.
It is for that very reason... the apathy from WG and the complete static nature of the game as it currently is, that I'm not buying more flex to stick around. I've built just about every dot... in just about every way a dot can be built (right and wrong) and done about everything there is to do. I'd love to hang out and do it again... if I knew there'd be changes in the system (just enough to make it interesting... not drastic changes that wreck everything) so I could be challenged with my builds, my coaching, anything... but that's not gonna happen so there's nothing left here that inspires me. I'll hang out with friends... help newbs... build dots for a few people... and when my account is down to it's last few drops, donate to those same friend's teams and go play other games that DO understand that whet they have is worth investing time and effort in.
Not mad bro... it's been fun. But I simply don't see the investment by WG into it's future enough to make me want to invest in WG further.

The game will be around as long as there's still people playing it.

If you want to know if it will continue being around for a year or two longer, admins aren't who you should be asking.

It would be huge if that were posted in multiple places. It would be doubly huge if the posting of it took a *positive* tone, as in "We're glad you like GLB Classic--we're committed to giving you a great gaming experience here!".

There's no reason for the company to always present the dark side of the business--we get it, any visit to the "General Discussions" forum would evidence just how well we get it. How about some positivity, so that those of us who like a place to play online football can do so with some confidence? I'm going to play here for as long as its open, but wouldn't it be nice to take away the built-in excuses of those who claim "I can't spend money here when nobody will commit to this place being around when my dots get older"?

All you need to know about Larry is evidenced in the way he refers to people's reluctance to spend money on a product that "might disappear tomorrow" as a "built-in excuse"

I know this, I wont be quitting anytime soon. GLB classic is the only game I have played where spending money on it didn't bother me a bit. Will I buy more flex in the future, well more than likely yes. Theres still a good group of people playing that are heavily invested...I STILL LOVE THE GAME.

A few months back, I tried to load GLB and it wouldn't load. I got the error message that said the URL didn't exist. I tried a couple times, it wouldn't load, and I said whelp, I guess they shut it down. I wasn't surprised there wasn't an announcement, and I wasn't surprised it didn't direct me to one of the other WGG games. I just assumed (for that day) that WGG had shut it down with no notice whatsoever

That's the main fear. The 70% return was a huge selling point and the reason people were willing to pay pretty expensive prices to play. When you no longer believe that you'll get access to that 70%, the perceived cost looks substantially higher.
