1125228 Flex 165200 reward on hand.
If they'd run that 'All Night Free Table Dances at the Club of Your Choice' special again, I might have to buy some more and build a league.

WGG make a niche game that was marketed to a niche market and then were surprised that it turned out to be a niche game with a niche market.

What is "niche" about wanting to play American-style football? The NFL is the #1 professional sport in this country, and college football is the king of college sports. How in the world did the powers that be convince themselves that what they had here was a "niche" rather than something potentially HUGE?

Pretty much what's been said. I don't give a flying shit about 2.0 because I don't like it. And yet, the response is go play 2.0.

Huge relative to what? I think you could make an argument that GLB could have been more successful if it had been continued to be developed and managed differently. I dont think that changes anything about the core of the game itself. It is a niche game because its not mainstream in how its played. People like american football and because of that it permits the existence of a game like this, but still only to a limited amount of people. People who like nfl/ncaa football and want to play a game play a mainstream game like Madden.

Do you like GLB2? The premise of your statement would apply there as well.

Yep...this all day long.

There are reasons why this happens to be niche now....but that doesn't mean it had to be a niche game.

It's niche because of 255-0 scores. And because you set your LBsince deep to defend the run and shallow against the pass. And because big I and goalline are home run formations rather than short yardage. Or to be more precise...because the Sim is football-like, not football. It's also niche because rather than force you to play it as a simulation of pro football, It rewards good players for playing together and screws noobe for not being good on day 1.

It didn't and doesn't have to be niche....but it is.

It's basically the same as growing a really slow growing plant. Only, I know exactly what the plant will look like at the end. a toon costs more money and the garden is smaller.

oh yea and unless I put it in a garden with 54 other perfect plants its not pretty.

Because I'm not playing any of the games that I started playing in August of 2008.

Just like I'm not still wondering why The Pineapple Express (which came out the day I started playing) isn't still doing well in the theatres.

...

Then again, I am currently playing Tales of Vesperia for the XBOX 360. It turns out that game was released the day before I started playing GLB.

Of course, I didn't start playing it in 2008, I only started playing it this year. So even though it is seven years old, it is still new to me. And it isn't dependent upon a community of people playing it. And I don't have to play it every two days, I can play it on my own schedule. And the game doesn't involve me building my players and setting strategies for them to follow, then logging in to the game to watch the AI fight battles and explore dungeons for me.

Also, I don't start a new game plus, only to have to wait over a year and a half to actually get to the end of the game again.

And that's a good point that we've raised elsewhere.

Soon the Admins will be spamming the forums demanding guarantees that we'll still be here in a year and a half before they let us spend our flex on any new players....

I have a lot of flex wrapped up in my current dots, and I have the math all worked out for retirements and such based on the retirement refunds (I can even show you the spreadsheets)

However, if I needed to buy more flex, I wouldn't. I would retire a player instead.

A few months back, I tried to load GLB and it wouldn't load. I got the error message that said the URL didn't exist. I tried a couple times, it wouldn't load, and I said whelp, I guess they shut it down. I wasn't surprised there wasn't an announcement, and I wasn't surprised it didn't direct me to one of the other WGG games.

I just assumed (for that day) that WGG had shut it down with no notice whatsoever, because I guess deep down, part of me truly believes that's consistent with the way this company feels about its responsibility to its paying customers.

Later that day, I tried again, and the site loaded up just fine. Nothing was mentioned about a site outage earlier that day, and I went on about my GLB business.

So I'm unsurprised when WGG won't commit to its customers that they'll be able to use the flex after they buy it. And I won't be surprised when it suddenly goes dark. And that's why I won't be buying anymore flex.
