I dunno... it's not so much the process guys. I actually enjoy building dots. Thing is... it takes WAY too freakin long PERIOD. One thought that I haven't seen is maybe shortening the process in this way; Instead of starting from complete scratch, you purchase a dot by seasons. So if you wanna skip the first season, you would get ALL the SP's and ALG's and LEVELS and everything. Just no stats (which would hurt your HOF chances but... that's the trade off). It would cost you the same plus 5% for the 'gift' of bypassing the season. This could be applied to each season you wish to bypass (so skipping 2 seasons would be +10%, 3 seasons +15%, ect, ect, ect.) And you had to decide from the get go how many seasons you wish to purchase. Then you could simply apply your SP's and do your training and viola! A dot that is ready to play at whatever level you paid for. This would let people still builds dots normally.. or maybe skip only one or two seasons rather than being forced into 'instant dots'. It keeps the current game structure intact and would be a lot simpler to do that changing everything to have instant dots.

But I get what they're saying (or what I assume DD was implying at least) that it further fragments an already dwindling userbase.

So even if only half of the users buy instadots, that effectively kills the lower leagues and makes the long-build process no longer viable.

I'm not saying that I would storm off in anger if we get insta-dots. I just think I'd build a few, and slowly get bored with it. Plateau dots during the season can be pretty boring.

Pretty much this for me

Dropping prices isn't going to work either. It's not like there's a flood of users every day that go running away because of the cost.

I've wondered if there would be interest in a CPU league where the competition would be one AI vs another and build choices among the CPU options. I would provide a place for even competition among those of us that like to do coord work

That would be a pretty fun idea, except that the cost of running hundreds of CPU leagues would greatly outweigh the benefits.

Teams would have owners - just CPU players. We could even allow for some limited number of owner players. Say 4-6.

That's why I said what I did. I agree, from a personal and financial perspective, switching to instant dots COMPLETELY would not go well. All current builds would most likely get recycled... teams would die off... resets everywhere. Chaos. But, allowing us to CHOOSE to build advanced dots would give the user base freedom to choose their own ways of building still... while allowing those with time and money and desire to build instant dots to do so... or, anywhere in between. You don't have to change league structure or build structure... just incorporate an advanced building system in. Something we've (WG has) already done before when they switched to the current build system. It's not complicated... not nearly as much as a complete change would be.

It isn't false. I'm one of the many here who isn't plunking down hundreds and thousands of dollars to play and I've been here, like, forever. Those who think the game costs too much generally don't last longer than one season or two... many bail before they even start. The rest of us find the financial commitment sustainable enough. The major reasons for those leaving today are burnout and the length of the whole build process... not the cost. I will agree I find the cost structure a bit wonky but it's not my company to run.

If the game was still growing, this would be an awesome idea for how to recruit, initiate, and train new coordinators into the process.

I saw when you posted that, but wasn't sure if you were joking. I don't think any of us i able to predict the future with the kind of precision you're asking for. I mean, maybe the game will be around til Season 57, maybe it'll be around til Season 157. Maybe if I ask real nice Bort will shut it down tomorrow. (Just kidding!)

We've said over and over, GLB will be around as long as it's financially viable (the same applies to any of our other games). If you want to help prolong (or brighten) GLB's future, you could refer people to the site, OR you could buy Flex Points here. (More FP purchased on GLB = GLB is around longer.) But as far as the detailed financial forecast /fortune-telling you requested, I don't think we can deliver on that.

With all the flex bought in the past til present GLB should be just fine financially until Season 500...if not take less vacations with our spent cash and fuse it into GLB Classic instead
